Alliance Party embroiled in debate over foreign policy
With the upcoming Proxima Federal Republic elections just months away, leading members of the Alliance Party in Sector 005 are engaged in fierce and public debate over the party’s foreign policy, long thought settled. Ilo Perenno, Deputy Leader of the Sector 005 chapter of the Alliance Party, has called for a stronger stance against authoritarian states, which has struck a chord with some in the party, and alienated much of their base. Speculation is rife as to the cause of this sudden change, though many point to the political ambitions of a young and charismatic Proximan and nothing more.

Alarians announce new Custodian Initiative
Alarian state broadcasters this month proclaimed the benefits of their new Custodian Initiative - a sweeping prisoner rehabilitation programme, overhauling their previous judicial and custodial policies. Custodians, as prisoners within the Imperium are now called, enrolled in the programme are said to be enjoying a significantly improved quality of life employed in productive roles throughout the Imperium in Sector 005. Amnesty Galactic Rights Watch (AGRW) welcome the move, but suggest the Alarian government should allow for international observers to witness the conditions in the new rehabilitation centres. Prior to this new policy, critics of the Alarian Imperium pointed to AI prisons as sites of torture and brutal hard labour.

Autarky League protests foreign government intervention on Bal-D
Protests and major demonstrations were held across the planet of Bal-D, called by the leaders of the Autarky League against the presence of foreign agents and diplomats on the planet. Cerean and Vertinian diplomats have been independently working around the clock to broker a truce between the League and the Colonial Development Council (CDC). Vertinia despatched humanitarian convoys to the world in response to the violent clashes last month. As talks began between the VCW representative Witney Blowse and the CDC, the deep rumble of humanitarian freighters over the conference venue underlined VCW commitment to peace on Bal-D.

Megastar Lo0zy announces first tour stop
Fans across Sector 005 are going wild at the prospect of seeing megastar Lo0zy - Her upcoming release and 13th studio album, “Rampage, Love and Rebellion,” ignited speculation about a new round of stadium dates. The first of these new tour dates has been confirmed as the SILK world of Crashdump, renowned for its raging nightclub scene.

Alarian Navy secure Promethean artifact site on Skaro
Last month Associated Interstellar Press report Alarian Imperial Navy vessels have discovered a major Promethean artifact within the Bramble Patch Nebula. Imperial scouts have reportedly identified a vast underground chamber and allegedly have secured the planet Skaro for ‘safekeeping’ said local traders.

Seeker Confederacy inaugurate new Galactic Auction House
The auction house, under the curatorship of Archibald Rex, is eager to identify new finds and rare beasts, artifacts and wares for sale and proferrance to the galactic community.

Proxima Federation protests military buildup in the Gamma IX system
The Terran Federation are reportedly massing vessels of the Fourth Battlegroup in Sector 002, along the border with the Proximan protectorate Queeg Heptarchy. The Queegs, renowned for their wide vocal range due to genetic experimentation, are a core ally and form part of The Pact, a buffer region of worlds and independent polities between the Terran Federation and the PFR in Sector 002 and Sector 003.

Visvanivasah Confederacy proclaim the inaugural Fivervision Song Contest
“By sash and starlight, the Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy proclaims the inaugural Fivervision Song Contest!
All proud polities, noble guilds, renegade radio republics, and glittering city-states of Sector 5 are summoned to assemble—costumed, choreographed, and gloriously over-amplified. Present your anthems, power-ballads, and high-camp hymns; unleash modulations that bend the cosmos; and brandish harmonies sharp enough to cut a comet.
One Sector. One stage. Ten thousand rhinestones. Let the votes be dramatic and the applause be thunderous. Sector 5—sing for your stardom!”
