FANS PREPARE FOR FIVERVISION CONTEST
Venues across Sector 005 are already booked out for livestreaming of the quadannual sector-wide song contest. More than 11 major states and dozens of independent colony worlds across the sector have held song contests putting forward their songs of choice - fans wait with baited breath for next week’s contest at Selidor Celestial Gardens. SNG citizens are particularly stoked for the big contest, where local fans have organised huge communal viewings. Millions of fans and music lovers have flocked to Selidor for the big night. The Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy have laid on an exquisite experience for those visiting the Emerald Worlds, with evening exhibitions of music, festivity, collective joy and prayer.

RAKSHASA-9 DEVASTATED BY RAIDERS
With hundreds dead and tens of thousands now without homes, Rakshasa-9 has declared a state of emergency and appeals to the intergalactic community for emergency aid. Early reports by Associated Interstellar Press reporters indicate the raiders overwhelmed Rakshasan defences, bombed major civilian dome settlements across the planet and seized large quantities of the planet’s valuable refined Polarium-X. Whilst fires are now under control, local medical experts are concerned at the levels of Polarium dust now falling across large swathes of the Helsweig District following a major fire at a Polarium refinery struck in the initial assault.
Piracy expert Professor Y’ah Mee-Hartese observed we may be witnessing a new evolution in pirate strategy, or the emergence of a new more aggressive pirate faction within Sector 005. Whilst piracy has long been rife in recent decades, owing to the Sector’s status as a relatively recently developed fringe region, attacks have been focused on outlying mining stations and lone cargo vessels, rather than well-defended independent colonies, Mee-Hartese suggested. Rakshasa, a company world owned and operated by Rakshasasyn Corp, has requested aid from its parent company based in Sector 001.

NEW ERA DAWNS FOR LE GRANDE REPUBLIQUE
The worlds of CASI in Sector 005 have broken away from the Concordant Assembly of Systematic Intellect. What were peaceful and thriving worlds just weeks before, the worlds of CASI - across human settled space have been struck by acts of violence, bombings and mobilisation of factions of the armed forces. A major tech outage in the CASI central operating nexus has disrupted the CASI hivemind ‘Unity’ subroutine, leading to mass social unrest - and in sector 005, the worlds of CASI breaking away and a leading faction, Le Grande Republique, rising in its place and proclaiming independence from the ‘ancien regime’, as they say.
Former CASI Navy Sector 005 Fleet Commander Lental Veng maintained cohesion of the fleet, forming a blockade around the colonial capital - and has now ceded control of the fleet to the new regime. In an interview with GNN reporters, President Robo-spiere 33.y said, “The dark age is over, and the glorious 33rd Republic rises anew. Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité!”. CASI loyalist representatives on Unity Prime (Sector 001) were unavailable for comment.

TERRANS CLAIM QUEEG BEHIND MAJOR BOMBINGS
Two days ago the Terran world of Hobus, bordering the Queeg Heptarchy in Sector 002, was struck by a series of major explosions across the planet. The planet’s energy grid was briefly disrupted causing widespread power outages and grav-field failures leading to high numbers of casualties and traffic accidents, compounding the situation for emergency services on the stricken world. Whilst Federal emergency services were quick to respond, and humanitarian relief from the nearby colony world of Calero is already flowing - with support from Terran navy ships in the area, thousands have lost their lives.
Supreme Chancellor Mohammed El-Fridi has declared a day of mourning across Sector 002 and directed blame for the attacks at the neighbouring worlds of the Queeg - a Proximan ally and buffer state as part of the long standing Proximan Pact nations. The Federation’s Fourth Battlegroup was already undertaking exercises in the region and has been moved to a state of maximum readiness. Terran Ambassador to Queeg, Marylyn Oluwe, was reported as saying:
“The Terran Federation awoke today to an act of calculated barbarism. Entire districts have been torn apart by explosions, families murdered where they live, and the innocent targeted without warning or mercy. There is no justification. There is no defence - they have gone too far this time. The hand of the Queeg is evident in this atrocity, and we hold them fully responsible. The Federation will not rest until our people are secure. We will pursue those who planned and enabled these massacres, and every cell that harbours them will be dismantled. This is not only our right — it is our duty to our citizens. We did not seek this fight, but we will finish it. The Queeg will learn that the price of terror is unbearable, and that the Federation’s resolve is unbreakable.”

ESSENCE OF MOULDING SPEAKS
The Essence of Moulding, one of the original Co-founders of Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy (VC), co-author of the Book of G’kar with fellow Co-founder John Bryden, and Co-leader of the Order of the Golden Lion, was overheard last week in conversation with senior Brydists talking of an upcoming age of change, whilst on retreat in the Delenn Mountains of Earthsea. More than 120 years ago, The Essence of Bryden proclaimed the Age of Strife, prior to the great Independence Wars from the old Earth Empire.
GNN reporters spoke with VC leaders to confirm the story, who said “The Roke Council wished to state that The Essence of Moulding has a deep understanding of galactic politics and that this strongly resonates with our own insights on this matter, The Essence of Bryden reminds us that this is an opportunity for transformation”.

In response to the rapidly escalating situation on Hobus, The Uzzayad - the Queeg Parliament - met today for an emergency session on tensions with the Terran Federation. Qaliph Hawiya Gentlos IV, Uzzayad Member for Melissé, called on The Uzzayad to activate Article II of The Pact, a long standing mutual defence treaty with a range of states across Sector 002 and Sector 003, including the Proxima Federal Republic, Dyrektoriat Kosmiczny, the Outer Rim Alliance, Alianza de la Aurora Roja, Fel-Tek Trade Federation and others. The emergency session ran into the night with three clear political positions emerging - for the activation of The Pact, against activation but for requesting allied military support and a small group of border worlds who reject the two leading proposals. Intergalactic observers from several polities and groups, including AI, CPA and Zeyland-Butani Corp, sat in on and advised members during the proceedings.
The debate was closed late in the night and will resume today, Queeg political experts expect a decision to be reached soon. The rotating presidency currently resides with President of Queeg, Entus Mola of Nuland, who has called for calm across the Heptarchy and for an independent third party assessment of the Hobus bombing sites; we expect a speech from the President later today following the Uzzayad’s deliberations. GNN sources state Queeg Defence Forces have been placed on high alert and reservists are being mobilised. Queeg markets have fallen by 12% in the past several days in anticipation of potential hostilities.

PROXIMA WILL STAND BY THE QUEEG, SAYS PM
Proxima Federal Republic Prime Minister Svetlana Johnsdottir announced today in a special address from the Hall of the Republic that “Proxima will stand by the Queeg. Proxima will stand by every ally. And together, we will ensure that no Federation threat can undo what free peoples have built.” PM Johnsdottir has received support from MPs and Senators of the Alliance Party and United Colonial Bloc. Socialwave platforms Glimr and Ziv are awash with content praising the Proximan PM’s stance.
Meanwhile, National Vanguard Movement leader Rigel Mosley called for a stronger response in a press conference in Acropolis, Proxima today:
“To stand by the Queeg requires more than speeches in the Hall of the Republic, it requires fleets, factories, and citizens ready to defend the Pact. Every day we delay compulsory service, every budget we pass without the necessary expansion of our armed forces, we invite Terra to test us. The Federation will not be checked by diplomacy. It will only be checked by hard power. Anything less is appeasement — and history does not forgive appeasers.”
Peace protests have also erupted in several major cities across the Republic, called by the Proximan Unity Front (PUF) and allied groups, as part of the wider HOPE movement (Humanity Organised for Peace and Equality). Lando Morris of the PUF put out a statement on independent networks against the PFR Government’s line:
“Once again, the Prime Minister wraps herself in the flag of security to justify a course of escalation. She talks of protecting families, but it is our families who will be asked to pay the price, in taxes for warships, in lives for a conflict not of our making. Rushing to war without proof is a betrayal of the social contract. Our answer to the Terran Federation should not be more fleets and more fear, but solidarity between peoples, Terran and Proximan, and a commitment to peace.”

IMPERIAL NAVY ‘BLOCKADES’ SKARO
Alarian Imperial Navy fleet assets have deployed to Skaro, Galactic Press Association sources report. Proximan Diplomat, Federico Imbliss called the move “a clear attempt to blockade and annex the ancient mysteries of Skaro, which should be shared between all nations”. Imperial Navy sources say they are undertaking a regular planned military exercises codenamed Exercise Smaug Saber. Multiple diplomatic and civilian vessels en route to Skaro have reportedly been denied access to the Skaro system by Imperial Navy vessels.
Reporters spoke of tense scenes at last month’s diplomatic summit as the Alarians sought to defend their actions on Skaro. Vertinia called on international stakeholders ‘concerned about unauthorised military action’ over Skaro to back their public letter decrying the actions of the Imperium, GNN reporters understand the letter was signed by the Terran Federation and called on all nations to condemn the annexation and use of force in unclaimed regions, call on the AI to cease their occupation of Skaro, call on all future claims to be presented to a Sector 005 diplomatic committee, and backed up these measures by a joint obligation by signatories to implement collective measures including sanctions, to ‘preserve the integrity of the sector’s governance’.

CEREANS ENDORSE PRISONER REHAB PROGRAMME
The Cerean Planetary Alliance (CPA) has held a joint press conference on Gloriana with AI representative Tribune Julius, Magister Primus of the Custodian Initiative, publicly endorsing the Alarian Custodian programme as ’legitimate’. CPA expert Kash Maomal visited Gloriana and Temidura as part of an international oversight delegation for the programme, they say.
Proximan-based human rights NGO JUSTICENOW has cast doubt on the veracity of the oversight activities undertaken by the CPA and call for full release of all files and documentation related to the Gloriana visit. Jordex Neela, Chief Executive of JUSTICENOW said “We’ve heard time and time again of claims of the miraculous nature of this programme, but we’ve yet to see full independent proof, until that time, despite statements by Cerean representatives, we will not let up in our campaign to cast a spotlight on human rights abuses, wherever we find them”.

BANKER WARNS OF MARKET SHOCK
There is a higher risk of a serious fall in stocks than is currently being reflected in the market, the head of megabank FordexKP has told GNN. Jatee Dimon, who leads AFCO’s largest bank, said he was “far more worried than others” about a serious market shock, which he said could come in the next two to six weeks. In a rare and wide-ranging interview, the bank boss also said that Earth had become a “less reliable” partner on the galactic stage. He cautioned he was still “a little worried” about inflation in the Terran Federation, but insisted he thought the Terran Federal Reserve would manage the situation, despite repeated attacks by the El-Fridi administration on its chair Kaleph Donnie.
Jatee Dimon was in Force Six, where he was announcing an investment of about 350m credits in FordexKP’s campus there, as well as a 3.5m philanthropic investment in local non-profits. Force Six Planetary Governor Rachel Peeves said the investment was “fantastic news for the local economy and people who live” on Six. Ahead of the interview, Dimon appeared before a town hall on the campus - cutting a figure more akin to an off-duty rock star than a bank CEO - wearing an open-collar shirt and neojeans, and high-fiving staff on his way to the stage. Opening with his take on Force Six’s economy, Dimon said he felt Rachel Peeves was doing a “terrific job”, and he felt optimistic about some of AFCO’s attempts to boost innovation and cut regulation. However, on the broader economic picture, he felt there were increased risks galactic stock markets were overheated. “I am far more worried about that than others,” he said.
