VC PLANS NEW INTERSTELLAR FORUM

Sng fleet deploys against pirates

Above the planet of Parliament, Viśvanivāsaḥ constructors have begun development of a brand new orbital arcology. Earlier this week GNN spoke to VC officials at the site, who reported to us of a new hope for peace for Sector 5 - that this isn’t just a new space station, but part of a new interstellar effort at brokering stronger relations between worlds. The new station will be called Unity 5, they say.

LEAKED TRANSCRIPT OF NEW INTERSTELLAR ALLIANCE

Whilst the new Unity 5 Station may bring a hope for peace, GNN foreign relations expert Klinus Bogman BSc says “after today’s news, it might be a long time coming yet”. Bogman reports receiving a leaked transcript to a series of top summit meetings of the ‘interstellar forum’ and backchannels between them, from a senior source.

The transcripts allege the establishment of a new ‘interstellar alliance’ between the nations of Sector 005, which, the source alleges, shall be ‘enforced’ by the military forces of Sexy Intelligent Lady Komputer. Many of the major polities of Sector 005, including the Association of Free Colonies (AFCO) are alleged to have spoken in support of the new organisation. The leaked transcripts also detail ‘flippant suggestions’ of ‘total annexation’ of smaller neutral ‘independent planets’ to develop a new base for the new alliance headquarters.

Whilst GNN cannot confirm these allegations, beyond the senior source and the leaked transcript. Sources also detailed a leaked meeting between the Alarian Imperium and AFCO, which said:

‘I also wanted to say that we regret the previous tensions between our factions. I’m glad the situation with Skaro is settled and the conflict did not escalate. We now recognise Skaro as belonging to the Imperium.’

Large protests have swept AFCO Sector 005 capital world of Dalek on the news. GNN’s Political Editor Kara Stewart spoke to some of the protesters on the ground. Greg Bilwhit of the ‘Free Means Free Coalition’ (FMFC) argued “AFCO should stay true to its founding principles, we didn’t vote for this, if this is true, we demand Sector President W. Tang resign immediately”. Others, whilst less incensed, were clearly concerned, Hoka Keremsin of ‘Unlock Liberty’, a campaigning group for increased autonomy of AFCO member worlds, said “Well this isn’t great is it, even if they have a good reason for this, it should be put to the voters and the Association Council. We have a petition of more than 7 million signatures demanding transparency in these negotiations, they can’t ignore that now can they”.

SNG FLEET DEPLOYS AGAINST PIRATES

The Solas na Gealaí have deployed their Mah’alleinir Fleet to the Rakshasa-9 on combat patrol against further pirate attacks on the beleaguered colony. The peacekeeping fleet is also to provide aid and assist Rakshasasyn Corp in salvaging orbital damaged assets. Rakshasasyn Corp aid ships from Sector 1 have now begun to arrive and undertake cleanup of the Polonium-X spread.

QUEEG BORDER PLANETS REQUEST PROTECTION

Local authorities on several Queeg border worlds, together accounting for roughly a quarter of Queeg territorial space, have announced that, “in light of mounting security concerns,” they have invited unnamed “third-party security formations” to deploy in their systems to provide protection and stability.

Within days, flotillas and ground units flying the colours of newly formed “Independent Quagaar Auxiliaries” began crossing into the border zone; sector analysts and Pact intelligence sources insist these formations are in fact reflagged elements of the United Terran Federation operating under a thin veneer of deniability.

The Uzzayad - the Queeg Parliament - has condemned the deployments as a violation of its sovereignty and called for an emergency session of the Pact Council, while Proxima has ordered its Second Battlegroup forward into Sector 002 as a visible guarantee of Queeg territorial integrity, a move welcomed by Pact hardliners but seen by markets and moderates as sharply increasing the risk of open confrontation.

When approached for comment, Terran Federation officials refuted the claims by the Proxima Federal Republic and invited interstellar polities to observe a minute’s silence in remembrance at those lost during the Hobus bombings.

Last month, the Uzzayad voted against activation of The Pact, as called for by Qaliph Hawiya Gentlos IV, Uzzayad Member for Melissé, in an attempt to placate the protesting border worlds, but requested the support of available allied military forces. Queeg markets have continued to slide on the increasing tensions and the Queeg Defence Force has been placed on high alert, with reservists mobilised across the Heptarchy.

STARKILLER DAY CELEBRATED ACROSS S5

Polities across Sector 005 and wider human settled space celebrated the 111th Anniversary of Duke Starkiller’s sacrifice in the Great War of Independence all those years ago. Starkiller Day is an annual focal point of remembrance of the war, the destruction of the infamous Death Orb and the death of Duke Starkiller at the hands of Lord Straven for refusing to collaborate with the imperial regime in disclosing the location of the rebel independent’s fleet bases, which at the time, would have spelled certain doom for the motley rebel alliance of independent worlds breaking free from the United Earth Empire.

The Alarians held a day of remembrance for the Empress Alaria’s contribution to the Great Independence War, preceding their years of conquest. The Cereans organised a nationwide evening of song, of dirges of mourning, of grief for those lost in the Imperial mass driver bombardments and conflicts of the war. The Vertinians remembered the war and the sacrifice of all those lives lost through their tradition of the Great Wreath on Vertinia, woven of saplings planted at the end of the war, now a vast and beautiful green testament to the memory of the lost. The warring factions of CASI paused in their fighting to remember the destruction of their homeworld by Imperial mass bombardment in 2488 - Meanwhile, the newly liberated Le Grande Republique held a massive Fěte de la Líberátion festival emphasizing unity, liberty, and the Republic through military parades, patriotic speeches, bonfires, feasting, dancing, fireworks, and oaths to the new constitution.

Proximans used the opportunity to call a special session the Proximan Federal Parliament, where Prime Minister Johnsdottir re-affirmed their commitment to The Pact alliance. GNN reports SILK appeared to celebrate Starkiller Day, not in mourning, but through riotous hedonistic partying in nightclubs and public squares across the Komputerdom - Holonet contact was briefly lost with Crashdump as even the Central Communications Nexus workers absconded from their posts to party. SKC spent the day in quiet contemplation in their religious centres and temples, with a special ceremony on Revelation Station. Though neither VC or the SNG participated in the war, they sent delegations to the various celebrations and remembrances across Sector 005.

The United Terran Federation, inheritors of the United Earth Empire, commemorated the end of the war with Federation Day, celebrating the founding of the United Terran Federation.

SKARO ENERGY SURGE DETECTED

Long distance observation of the Skaro artifact by the Second Proximan Far Sight Array Squadron reported to GNN an intense beam of radiation originating from the Alarian Imperium claimed world of Skaro, directed at a distant set of coordinates beyond the furthest reaches of human settled space, approximately 1.5-2 thousand parsecs away.

Dr Malthus Perensen, an astronomer at the Proximan National Science Foundation, remarked that the speed and energy of the surge indicated a non-natural event of possible extra-terrestrial origin. Though, wherever it is headed, Perensen remarked, it would take a long time for our fastest ships to ever reach there, at 400 parsecs a year, it could take as long as 3-5 years.

CASI CIVIL WAR RAGES

Two major factions have emerged within the CASI civil war, the separatists and loyalists. After the catastrophic cyber event triggered a full scale collapse of the CASI holonet, CASI citizens’ implants rebooted, resetting cognitive subroutines and disrupting communications across the entire CASI dominion. Almost immediately, Le Grande Republique in Sector 005 broke away, but the remainder of CASI fell into a brutal civil war, with CASI military fleet assets firing on civilian populations in an effort to quell the growing rebellion. Neighbouring polities have been muted in their response to such civilian atrocities, though the VCW and Proximan diplomats issued a joint letter of protest to the CASI embassies on Vertinia and Proxima Centauri. Whilst the loyalist faction currently retains the upper hand, it appears the separatist movement is growing quickly. Separatist attacks have largely focused on surgical and targeted attacks on communications infrastructure and the core neural hyperweave nexus’ on each CASI planet that maintain the ‘cognitive unity’ of the population. With each bombing or attack, including suicide attacks, the holonet and hyperweave nexus is disrupted, allowing for greater division and plurality in CASI thought - anathema to their cultural cognitive coding. As a result, CASI loyalists are taking an unreserved and hard stance on any resistance, should their apparently fragile dominion collapse.

AI DEFECTOR ARRIVES ON NEW DEVON

GNN reports a military defector from the Alarian Imperium has arrived on New Devon seeking political asylum, fleeing for his life. Cerean Planetary Alliance officials stated: “We can confirm that Zalen Burso has been granted provisional asylum. If true, we condemn the Alarian Imperium and their horrific acts on Skaro, however at this point the claims remain unverified. The CPA has opened an investigation, and we will not comment further until the facts are fully established.”

SQUIDEEN REGENERATED

A large-scale infrastructure overhaul is carried out on Squideen. Dozens of experts from across SILK are imported to work on improving Squideen infrastructure. Military forces are deployed alongside civilian relief efforts in cities. The local population is overjoyed at the special attention shown to them, and morale is significantly increased. Local unemployment, inequality and health outcomes are greatly and rapidly improved, as the SILK State is bent on improving the world of Squideen.

VIRAL PATHOGEN IDENTIFIED ON TEMPEST GROVE

On Tempest Grove, a viral pathogen of unknown origin has torn through the lowland settlements, killing hundreds in a matter of days. It is airborne, transmissible via microscopic spores that hang in the dense, humid atmosphere long after visible signs of contamination are gone. Local officials insist the outbreak is “largely contained” to a handful of valleys, but hospital vents, shuttle airlocks and cargo ducts tell a different story, and no-one can say with confidence where the invisible cloud ends. Early field studies point to a single, night-blooming plant, long thought extinct, that appears to flower only once every few centuries, releasing a storm of infectious spores before withering back into the soil. By the time xenobotanists secured viable samples, the bloom had ended and the plant’s chemical structure had already shifted, leaving a trail of decayed tissue and corrupt genetic fragments. The result is a pathogen that is extremely lethal, protean, and almost impossible to pin down in the lab; each failed sequencing run buys a few more hours of false reassurance while the air itself becomes suspect, and every breath taken on Tempest Grove feels like a gamble. Stay tuned for emergency updates.

GRIMES WELL GOVERNOR MURDERED

Cerean Planetary Alliance officials on Grimes Well have targeted black market and mafia gang activity on the planet in a series of wide-ranging raids. The planetary governor Lubus Preen remarked, “we’re proud of what we have achieved here today, this marks a new start for the people and the economy of our planet, our home.” Governor Lubus Preen was found dead in his accommodations yesterday morning in what experts fear, may be retaliation for his bold stance on mafia activity on the planet, which has threatened to encroach onto surrounding star systems.

Governor Lubus Preen’s body was discovered by security aides, his quarters sealed from the inside and surveillance feeds from the preceding six hours inexplicably corrupted. Forensics teams have confirmed signs of a close-range struggle and “highly professional” execution methods consistent with off-world contract killers, fuelling speculation that one of the syndicates targeted in the recent raids has moved first in a brutal show of strength. The acting Governor of Grimes Well has imposed an emergency curfew across the planets major population centres, deployed additional security forces to key spaceports, and suspended all pending prosecutions tied to the anti-mafia operation “pending review”, a move critics already describe as capitulation under fire. With Preen’s reforms now leaderless, rival factions within the planetary administration are scrambling to fill the power vacuum, while rumours spread that the same networks he tried to dismantle are quietly buying influence among his would-be successors, ensuring that his murder serves not as a warning to organised crime, but as a template.
