Nmvi.00 virus identified on galaga-d

NMVI.00 VIRUS IDENTIFIED ON GALAGA-D

In recent weeks, despite containment measures and a system wide lockdown, the Napenthes Monstera Trepani Virus (NMVI.00), named after the exotic plant it spread from, has torn through cities across Tempest Grove, with 117,000 now dead, and 100,000s more deathly sick. Tempest Grove medical authorities are under extreme strain with the planetary governor instituting a full planetary lockdown. Commonwealth authorities acted quickly in an attempt to contain the virus, VCW biomedical division are onsite instituting quarantine zones and air purification measures in major cities, which have had a direct impact on transmission rates and prevented the virus from spreading.

As of yesterday, SILK authorities have now confirmed the presence of NMVI.00 or the Nimvy Virus as people are now calling it, on Galaga-D. News of the contagion has caused mass panic on Galaga-D. Galaga-D System Coordinator Mentos Jamiesdottir was not available for comment. Currently just an estimated 3,000 individuals centred on the city of Pocheen have shown signs of contracting the virus, with dozens dead in SILK medical facilities already. Local SILK authorities, acting quickly, have traced the virus to a single starcarrier transport from Tempest Grove. Incubation periods for the virus are still unclear, though transmission has now been traced, thanks to VCW xenobotany efforts, to spores released from the lung tract of infected victims.

Sng fleet engage bionids over andor

SNG FLEET ENGAGE BIONIDS OVER ANDOR

Solas na Gealaí Fleet Commander Philis Beren has taken command of the 1st Mah’alleinir Defence Fleet and reports they have engaged the Bionids over Andor. As the tip of the spear of the newly formed Anti-Bionid Federation, evoking the Supreme Allied Fleet of the Bionid War, the SNG squadron is composed of two state of the art Battlestar armoured carriers Macha and Badb, the Long Range Missile Cruiser Nemain and the Electronic Warfare Frigate Anu. Commissioned just five years ago, the new Battlestars represent a fusion of E’lyran and Luna Pienan technology, primarily defensive in nature with thick armour cladding but deadly in a fight. A small gathering of SNG civilian and merchant vessels gathered at the M25 limit jump point to see them off, signalling “May We Meet Again” - the SNG traditional farewell in difficult times. GNN wishes the squadron good luck and happy hunting.

Sng squadron retreats from andor

SNG SQUADRON RETREATS FROM ANDOR

We have breaking news live from Andor - The 1st Mah’alleinir Defence Fleet of the SNG has signalled the withdrawal from Andor. Commander Philis Beren reports heavy battle damage, stating:

“The Bionids on Andor are far more developed and formidable than Anti-Bionid Federation intelligence had anticipated. Whilst the fleet was both able to inflict serious damage on the hivemind through orbital thermonuclear bombardment, and retreat to the M25 Limit, our capital ships Macha and Nemain sustained heavy damage from surface-to-space plasnid bombardment”.

GNN understands the SNG fleet has dispatched fleet rescue and hospital vessels and will likely return to Luna Piena fleet anchorage. Current scans of the fleet indicate the squadron has not been infected, which will come as some relief to Solas Na Gealai leaders.

Progressive alliance wins proximan elections

PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE WINS PROXIMAN ELECTIONS

Prime Minister Johnsdottir celebrated the win last week on Proxima as the Federal Progressive Alliance Party (FPA) won a renewed term in the Proxima Federal Republic Parliament. The FPA won with a reduced mandate, gaining 225 seats in the 650 seat Proximan Parliament. With the support of the 120 seat Alliance Party (AP) through a coalition arrangement, Johnsdottir has won herself another four years at the helm of the republic, though with expected significant concessions to her long term coalition partner. Experts expect policy shifts on such areas as increased parliamentary oversight of the Proxima Federal Republic Navy (PFRN) re-armament programme and in key areas on foreign policy, with the AP functioning as a moderating force on the FPAs more muscular response to the United Terran Federation’s recent moves against Pact members.

Sector 5 Governor Wolfgang Lentees and leader of the pro-colonial devolution United Colonial Bloc, celebrates an increased mandate, whilst the Proximan Unity Front suffered from the effects of ongoing party infighting and suffered at the polls as a result. Rigel Mosley of the National Vanguard Movement saw their vote rise with their main thrust of government ‘appeasement’ towards the Terran threat breaking through amongst key demographics. The Prime Minister is expected to give a victory speech tonight in the Hall of the Republic on Proxima at 18.00 galactic standard time, all net, all channels.

Y5 leaders reject cpa & sng evac

Y5 LEADERS REJECT CPA & SNG EVAC

As news of the defeat of the SNG 1st Defence Fleet struck the holo-channels of Y5, widespread panic and civil unrest erupted across the colony. One pressure dome was breached in fighting with Benzhar Hegemony security forces, spacing more than 1,800 colonists to the low pressure atmosphere. Benzhar security forces are maintaining a semblance of control, threatening to destroy and depressurise other rebellious habitat pressure domes. The normally fractious and disunited leadership of the colony has seemingly unified in rejection of CPA offers of humanitarian assistance.

The Cerean Planetary Alliance today offered Y5 inhabitants sanctuary on Potoss-6 in CPA space. Benzhar leaders reject the offer, on the basis that a clause for asylum would involve completely dissolving their colony, its structures and surrendering their identity, and becoming CPA citizens and are calling for the CPA to allow them to set up an autonomous colony on Potoss-6. SNG E’lyran leaders, recalling their nomadic roots, called on the old clans to support a massive humanitarian effort to evacuate Monokoke, Y5 and X14, which Y5 also rejected on a similar basis.

Despite this, the CPA report that more than 150,000 have managed to flee their domes, marching into the barren wastes of Y5 awaiting pickup by CPA and SNG humanitarian ships, which report the transport operation is now underway.

Professor Cambria gave a speech to the leaders of Y5 last week, saying “Andor has gone dark. Y5 is next. That much is clear to all of us. The threat is immediate and imminent, and no military force can hold this system against what is coming. Any attempt at defence would be a suicide mission. But the CPA offers its iron hand across the stars to those willing and able to choose survival. Join us. Relocate to Potoss 6. Preserve your knowledge, your work, and the future of your people. Begin anew under the protection and stability of the CPA, and let the legacy of Y5 rise again in a new dawn rather than vanish into the dark.”

The civil authorities on Monokoke report widespread civil unrest in response to the news from Andor, GNN sources say, though evacuation efforts led by the SNG are now proceeding. SILK are rumoured to have offered ‘luxury hotel accommodation’ to the ruling councils of Monokoke and Y5, which both colonies appear to have rejected. Authorities on X14 report they are conferring over the decision to evacuate. Stay tuned for updates.

Exercise ready lance concludes

EXERCISE READY LANCE CONCLUDES

Galactic News Network reports the successful conclusion of EXERCISE READY LANCE in the Henge system, conducted by Terran Strike Force Alpha ‘Felgor’s Fury’. The exercise focused on refining procedures for intelligence-led, precision strike operations against high-value targets.

Fleet commanders confirm that the drills integrated real-time intelligence analysis with rapid task-group manoeuvre, improving command-and-control responsiveness and inter-unit coordination. Particular emphasis was placed on target verification, collateral risk management, and post-raid extraction protocols.

Terran defence officials describe the exercise as a measured response to recent operational lessons, aimed at improving effectiveness without escalation. The outcome reinforces the fleet’s readiness to support tightly scoped enforcement or interdiction missions should political authorities require it.

Lgr forces strike rikerian empire

LGR FORCES STRIKE RIKERIAN EMPIRE

In a sudden strike experts are calling a ‘Shock and Awe’ campaign, Le Grande Republique (LGR) engaged targets across Riker II in a bid to neutralise the threat of Rikerian bioweapon development, LGR officials report. The strikes come in the wake of recent claims by LGR labour rights NGO Citoyens Sans Chaînes reporting of mass disappearances of Algeronian refugees within Rikerian territory.

LGR officials state recently intercepted intelligence reports and technical data point to a genetic bioweapons development complex currently operating secretly beneath the Rikerian capital city of Beard. At an LGR press conference this week, LGR military advisors suggest the leaked fragments point to a bioweapon specifically targeting Algeronian ethnicities of the neighbouring Algeron Republic, the Rikerian Empire’s sister state on Riker II - with LGR government stating “we either wait for them to finish it or we stop it now.”

Earlier this month, Le Grande Republique Assembly passed an emergency “Protection of Co-Citoyen Abroad” Act, asserting a right to intervene if fellow republican populations face “imminent harm.” Initial LGR strikes successfully suppressed Rikerian air and space defence systems. The LGR heavy cruisers and battlecarrier Marat, Sade and Daft Punk dispatched from 1st Strike Group De Gaulle engaged alleged Rikerian R&D and test facilities under the banner of surgical disarmament, alongside a general suppression of Rikerian conventional ground forces. Le Grande Republique envoys report they have now established no-fly zones over much of Rikerian Empire airspace. As tall black clouds of smoke billow over Beard and Sirtis, Rikerian families in their bunkers wonder, where next will the Republican hammer fall?

The neighbouring Algeron Republic moved to a heightened state of military readiness as news of the attacks reached government officials, whilst Algeron leaders called for their citizens to observe calm and hold steadfast. The Algeronian cities of Thaddeus and Kestra held civil defence preparedness drills and Algeron ground forces are now on full battle alert.

Cpa specialist team dispatched following governor murder

CPA SPECIALIST TEAM DISPATCHED FOLLOWING GOVERNOR MURDER

Last octant, Planetary Governor Preen was assassinated by suspected mafia elements on Grimes Well. In response the CPA has dispatched a specialist team from the Bureau of Trans-System Crime and Intelligence (BTSCI) to assist local authorities in investigating the assassination. BTSCI agents are also strengthening oversight on intersystem movements, cargo flows and communication channels across Grimes Wells space.

Plagued by increasing mafia activity in recent years, the system’s five regions and moons worst affected by mafia activity are the poorest. Recent independent research has revealed the devastating effect that mafia activity has had on Grimes Well’s economy. Thorun Falstaff, an economics professor in the department of policy analysis and public management at Zserebor University on New Cornwall, has studied the effects of various mafia organisations in the southern colonial regions of Pirenta and Basilor. His research shows that, since the “mafia eruption” of the mid-2580s, which saw an influx of criminal organisations into the colony whilst the wider CPA and sector economy was impacted by the ongoing Bionid War - the murder rate quadrupled in the two regions while their growth rates fell from the highest in the country to the lowest.

Comparing the regions of Pirenta and Basilor with the other colonised regions across CPA space, Falstaff’s research, published in the 2600 issue of the New Economic Journal, calculates that organised crime was responsible for a 20% fall in their economic output between the mid-2280s and mid-2290s. Mafia activity was thought to be easing off after the CPA wide crackdown on blackmarket trade under previous Sector 005 Governor Thorkell the Proud.

Tensions escalate on venta

TENSIONS ESCALATE ON VENTA

Planet Venta is witnessing escalating tensions as negotiations between the Northern Democratic Colonial Authority (NDCA) and their neighbour, the Dawnstar Colony, reach a boiling point. At the heart of the dispute are the recently identified valuable mines that NDCA has long claimed as their own but are currently occupied by Dawnstar Colony.

Tensions have surged as both parties stand firm on their claims, fueling concerns of a potential conflict. NDCA asserts historical ownership, whilst Dawnstar Colony, affiliated with the Cerean Planetary Alliance, argues the situation is not sufficiently stable to permit the return of the mines.

The Northern Democratic Colonial Authority (NDCA) is also amassing military forces in a bid to persuade the breakaway district around Hoka Crater, known as the New Venta Resistance (NVR), to recognise the results of a recent election and reintegrate into the NDCA. The standoff stems from differing interpretations of the election’s legitimacy, leading to the Resistance’s unilateral secession.

As the NDCA flexes its military muscle, concerns over potential conflict mount. Diplomatic channels remain open, and interstellar observers urge peaceful dialogue to resolve the impasse. The future of peace on Venta hinges on the ability of both parties to find common ground and ensure a stable transition of power in the disputed region.

SKC ESTABLISH NEW COLONY ON X14

The Seekers Commonwealth broke ground on a new colony this month. Commonwealth construction drones are in place and setting up the skeletons of the first set of new pressure domes on the rocky world, whilst a heavy mining rig, autorefinery and cargo pad complex is being constructed 30km to the south of the new colony.

PRES. TANG HONOURS SKARO HEROES

Sector President Tang today honoured the veteran heroes of a recent successful operation to secure data on the Skaro Artifact. Several days ago, a small group of AFCO military ships managed to evade Imperial patrols in the Skaro system, with two scout ships performing an extremely high sublight speed planetary-slingshot assisted flyby reconnaissance mission, AFCO reports. The mission produced highly detailed scans of the Skaro artifact, reports say.

Today, Sector President W. Tang celebrated and honoured those who undertook the mission, and remembered those pilots who lost their lives to Alarian missiles over Skaro. Tang spoke of the critical importance of the mission to the security of the sector, that his administration “will not stand idly by as a totalitarian regime jealously keeps a dangerous technology, one that could be used to subjugate the peoples of AFCO”, he said. President Tang highlighted that recent diplomatic efforts almost unanimously demanded Skaro to be made available for study to all polities of Sector 5.

The participating AFCO vessels reported for repair and refuelling over New Devon yesterday, to the surprise of CPA administrators.

Y15 HIT IN SUSPECTED PIRATE ATTACK

The Freedom Matters Commonwealth (FMC) colony declared an emergency on Y15. Hundreds have died in a shock pirate attack on the asteroid mining refinery. The raiders sacked the refinery operated by the Steel Mountain Corporation (SMC), stealing large quantities of Enriched Cobalt-60, used in medical and scientific applications across the sector. Following the attack power failed aboard the orbital refinery, the orbital stabilisation thrusters failed and the refinery burned up in Y15’s atmosphere. Fragments of the refinery fell out of the sky damaging property in 750km zone across the Freedom Matters Commonwealth.

The sole FMC Starguard defence unit was unable to intercept the pirate raiders in time, arriving on scene to rescue jettisoned escape pods in the vicinity of the attack. Despite ongoing diplomatic tensions on the planet, neighbouring Y15 colony New Ketala Colonial Authority dispatched emergency response teams to the FMC crash sites and is taking an active role in rescue efforts. GNN spoke with piracy expert Professor Y’ah Mee-Hartese who suggests we may be witnessing the emergence of a new, bolder, pirate faction. Mee-Hartese noted similarities in the attack strategy to the earlier devastating raid on Rakshasa-9.

DEEP RED TERROR STRIKE ON MOLLARI

Dozens dead in a surprise terror attack on a military barracks belonging to the Mollari Republic. A radical breakaway faction of the Red Planet Initiative on Trotsky have publicly taken credit for the attack, calling themselves Deep Red. Initial intelligence shared with GNN by local Mollari authorities indicate the Deep Red militants left Trotsky aboard civilian transports, before landing the transports deep in the equatorial mountainous rainforest belt on Mollari, deep within Mollari Republic territory. The Mollari Republic announced a counter-insurgency operation against the militants in a press briefing yesterday, Mollari Minister for Security remarked “We shall deal with this band of dirty barbarians in the only way they know how. As for Trotsky, the Red Planet Initiative needs to think again if they think they can simply export their revolution to Mollari!”

Authorities on Trotsky responded to the news denying any involvement. Lars Makhno, General Secretary of the Red Planet Initiative Central Committee, spoke to GNN, New Pravda and the Daily Worker, stating “We take no responsibility for the actions of Katya Posada and our comrades in the Deep Red faction, this is on them, splitters!” Daily Worker reporter Min Giap recently reported on tensions in the Red Planet Initiative governing committees over proposals to quote ‘carry the revolution’ to new worlds, with some of the more militant voices arguing that Trotsky has become a ‘degenerated and bureaucratic workers state unworthy of the name’ and that ‘we don’t have to settle for Trotsky, we can, we must build a true Red Planet among the stars’.

The Mollari Republic’s sister colony on Mollari, the much smaller Basha Colony, was unavailable for comment following the attacks, though it is understood the colonists are currently celebrating a weeklong public holiday commemorating the 10th anniversary of their colony on the southern continent of Mollari.

Ai defector disappears on new devon

AI DEFECTOR DISAPPEARS ON NEW DEVON

GNN reports the military defector from Alarian Imperium which arrived on New Devon last octant seeking political asylum has disappeared after being granted provisional asylum by CPA authorities. GNN and other news outlets have been following the movements of the individual, who we believe to be a military scientist associated with the Skaro project.

Cerean Planetary Alliance officials stated: “We can confirm that the defector, known as Zalen Burso, arrived on New Devon last month and was held at a CPA facility for questioning and quarantine, but that the individual in question has now gone missing and is no longer in CPA custody.”

It is unclear as to the cause of the defector’s disappearance, but it has caused concern among critics of the Alarian regime, such as Phenom Bengmu, an outspoken critic of the regime and campaigner for transparency of interstellar contracts with the Alarian regime based on Earthsea. “We hope the defector has managed to achieve some measure of safety and we pray for their safe deliverance. The long arm of Alarian brutality stretches across the sector, and this latest disappearance even on another nation’s territories is a stark warning to all those who call the Imperium friend,” said Bengmu speaking to GNN report Kara Stuart earlier today.

Silk highlight their contribution to sector 5

SILK HIGHLIGHT THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO SECTOR 5

Last month’s shock transcript leaks which revealed high level discussions over the new Unity 5 diplomatic organisation have caused consternation in SILK leadership, experts say. The leaked audio and text transcripts detail a range of rich interactions between Sector 5 states, one of which was of SILK representatives offering to ‘enforce’ the new ‘interstellar alliance’.

In recent weeks, in an attempt to win over detractors following the recent leaked comments, and quell the ongoing holo-net flame wars, SILK media bots and algorithms have worked to highlight the positive role of SILK as a contributing and key member of the Sector 5 community of nations. These, SILK say, include major contributions to Sector 5, such as - rebuilding and regenerating the infrastructure on the new SILK colony world Squideen, deploying SILK researchers to AFCO world Dalek in support of sector stability and committing to evacuating civilians from Y5 threatened by the Bionids. The SILK mediasphere reminds us that they act through consent, care and mutual aid, not enforcement.

It’s not just SILK reeling from the effects of the recent leaks, protests are still ongoing on AFCO sector capital Dalek, though somewhat muted compared to last month, following the revelations. The Free Means Free Coalition has garnered more than 11 million signatures across AFCO worlds in support of a petition calling for the Governor to resign.
