CASI LOYALIST FLEET ARRIVES IN S5

As fighting intensifies in the ongoing civil war between separatist and loyalist elements within the CASI state, an overstrength auxiliary squadron allegedly belonging to the primary loyalist CASI faction has arrived near Le Grande Republique space. Local traders and a departing passenger liner noted the fleet of ships and alerted New Berlin Space Traffic Control. The squadron was greeted by local Star Guard units and escorted to New Berlin’s orbital dockyards.

GNN war reporter Dezsovo Mondák reports the squadron was involved in the recent battle over Cestus II, which saw loyalist forces rebuff an incursion by the so-called New Star Socialist Federation (NSSF) forces, one of the three main separatist groups wrestling for control of the embattled CASI polity. Mondák notes battle damage on the hulls of the CASI ships, which appear to be under limited repair and refuelling at the New Berlin yards.

SKARO PACT ORGANISATION ANNOUNCED

The United Terran Federation and the Alarian Imperium have announced a new alliance between their governments in Sector 005, rooted in securing joint benefits of the Skaro artifact and bringing about a new era of peace and prosperity between polities across the sector. The two governments welcome the new opportunities closer ties will bring, with fresh trade ventures already in the works. Jatee Dimon of megabank FordexKP remarks “there is a very real chance this new joint venture can turn around the dismal economic situation in Sector 5, markets have risen at the news and opinion polls seem positive”. Markets have been down in recent months due to uncertainty around diplomatic tensions surrounding the Skaro artifact, the wider Hobus / Queeg Crisis, and ongoing pirate activity.

BRYDISTS CELEBRATE 571 YEARS SINCE THE FOUNDING

Followers of the Golden Lion prepare for the prime number pilgrimage to the home of the Order of the Golden Lion. The ranks of the Brydists swell once again, for the first time since 2569. Founded in 2030, the Order of the Golden Lion commemorates and reflects on the passing of the number of prime numbers since the founding of the order, as one of the key occasions of pilgrimage. Over the next few months, Earthsea and the surrounding Viśvanivāsaḥ worlds will see an influx in pilgrims from across Human Space to gather and witness the 105th prime.

NIMVY VIRUS ‘UNDER CONTROL’

SILK and VCW research terms have worked round the clock to investigate the NMVI.00 virus, recent breakthroughs, combined with decisive actions taken by local and regional authorities to contain the virus have led to local leaders and health teams declaring the virus now ‘under control’.

Despite this, megastar L0oZy has decided to postpone their upcoming mega-gig at Crashdump holo-arena, due to ongoing viral fears and skyrocketing insurance costs for large scale events due to the epidemic.

BOMBSHELL CLAIMS ROCK HOLONET

A flurry of stories have flooded the holonet, with key political holocaster celebrities picking up the stories. AFCO comedian and holocaster Jox Flogun took to the airwaves, among a variety of commentators, extolling a story that the Nimvy Virus was “created in a lab” and “released on purpose”, to create the chaotic conditions necessary for “One Sector Government Polities” to promote their recent activities of unifying the sector under common cause, through Unity 5 and the Anti-Bionid Federation, they say.

Flogun, on her holocast listened to by more than 2 billion subscribers across the sector, claims to have evidence that the Nimvy Virus currently ravaging SILK and Vertinian worlds was created at a secret facility on Riker, which is currently under occupation by Le Grande Republique (LGR) forces - that the LGR invasion of Riker is part of a general cover up of operations by a group of governments within the sector aimed at sowing discord to advance their plans for sector unification.

In response, protesters have taken to the streets of Dalek once again, denouncing their government’s role in the formation of a sector wide unification ‘plot’. Jox Flogun and other casters were approached for comment, GNN were unable to verify these claims.

SILK DISPATCH EXPERTS TO ANDOR

SILK 1st Fleet Taffetarion has been dispatched to the Andor system, to establish a perimeter and monitor the Bionid hive from a distance. GNN reports that SILK long range surveillance and probes dispatched to Andor orbit confirm reports that the hive’s development was significantly reduced by multiple thermonuclear detonations within its core structure, executed by the SNG fleet.

Experts expect it may be some time before the hive is able to regain enough mass, due to the attack, to project beyond Andor. Prof. Henlish SILK41a, Lead at the Lucid Nonsense Centre, has set up shop aboard the SILK flagship Succulent Distress, and is working to develop a shared early-warning containment protocol to inhibit the spread of the Bionids beyond Andor.

Additionally, a Seeker Commonwealth ground force division, codename Humanitarian Relief Ground Force Division, arrived in Monokoke, having performed a sweep of South East planetary systems for Bionid activity and reported no contact.

LGR FORCES LAND TROOPS - WMD LAB LOCATED ON RIKER II

Le Grande Republique ground forces have begun an assault on major ground targets on Riker II. Supported by the LGR, Algeron Republic forces too have engaged Rikerian targets along their border. High civilian casualties have been reported from AIP journalists on the ground in the capital city of Beard as the invasion has become bogged down in street to street urban fighting. An LGR strike fighter and flight team was also shot down in a recent operation and has been captured by Rikerian forces.

LGR special forces report having identified and secured the suspected biogenetic weapons lab constructed beneath the Rikerian Empire government district of Beard. Special forces, follow up investigation teams and GNN journalists on site report verified stockpiles of highly illegal weapons grade biomimetic gel and refining equipment discovered at the site. Such materials are capable, if refined, of producing high yield bioweapons and targeted viral loads. Fighting broke out in the lab prior to its capture, with many of the lab personnel killed in the attack, LGR sources report.

Le Grande Republique sources state a dossier is currently being prepared with the full findings from the lab. Whilst the galaxy will have to wait for confirmed verification of these claims, the humanitarian situation on Riker II deteriorates, as hundreds of thousands flee from LGR and Algeronian bombing.

RELOCATION EFFORTS BEGIN ACROSS SNG

The SNG have launched a major new rehousing and Homesteading program for refugees of the Bionid threat. The SNG have welcomed more than 400,000 Endaronian and Benzhar refugees from Monokoke and Y5. Most of these are being settled on Usagi, in new and separate settlements, supported by SNG authorities. Whilst those interested in starting a whole new life within the SNG will be able to secure a portion of land on Sakura and a fast track to citizenship, in exchange for working with the current colonists on Sakura to improve the planet and its infrastructure.

MAFIA PURGED FROM CPA SPACE IN MAJOR OPERATION

The Cerean Planetary Alliance announce that they have successfully executed a major anti-mafia operation. The CPA Bureau of Trans-System Crime and Intelligence (BTSCI) has been working for months to track down those responsible and unearth the networks responsible for the assassination of CPA Planetary Governor Preen in 2600.

Admiral Isolda Oremaster and Governor Sigrun Voidwake released a joint statement on the success of the operation:

“The Cerean Planetary Alliance is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the high-intensity phase of the Grimes Well Purge Protocol. Our specialized BTSCI teams have successfully dismantled the primary command-and-control structures of the insurrectionist syndicates that threatened colonial stability, and we have found and imprisoned the perpe-traitors of the assassination. The CPA is now transitioning to a reconstruction phase on Grimes Well. We are investing in ‘Infrastructure, Economic and Transparency Subsidies’ to ensure that Grimes Well remains a secure and productive hub for all loyal citizens. Order has been restored.”

BIONID CONFERENCE ON VERTINIA CONCLUDES

A long running research conference and joint research exchange mission on Vertinia for the past year has seen experts from across the Sector and wider Human Space gather to discuss the impacts of the Bionids on civilian morale. Eminent academics, intellectuals and scientists included Thatcher Makepeace of the SKC Tempting Word Directorate, Effie Trinket, Coordinator of VCW Civil Motivation Operations, Y0989a1002 Helios, Delegate of the LGR Liberté Social Research Nexus, Yevaud Zathras of the VC Bhaisa Circle, Peter Pickle, AI Tribune of Civil Operations, Denise Poulon, Coordinator of the CPA Institute for Civil Partnership, Alphros Teren of the SNG Civil Defence Board, and SILKon-the-fence “Maureen” 14 of 17 of the SILK Department of Contact.

The esteemed researchers agreed that Bionids present a clear and present danger to the wellbeing of civilian populations across Human Space, that the presence of Bionid hives near population centres instils a deep and instinctual fear in local populations leading to panic and diminished civilian morale.

The conference produced valuable research and health protocols for dealing with ‘Bioshock’ - the stress reaction and post-traumatic stress disorder with which many civilians and military personnel have suffered following in-person encounters or glimpses of Bionid ‘horrors’ or hive-fleets. Symptoms typically include a feeling of existential dread or helplessness that may coincide with panic, fear, flight, or an inability to reason, sleep, walk, or talk.

Yevaud Zathras was applauded for their paper submission to the research exchange, summarising the fear of the Bionid - the following is an excerpt from the paper:

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of space and infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage so far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but now, finally, we begin to piece together such dissociated knowledge that, for some of us, open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

Bionid Research Continues..

VC, SILK and the UTF continue to work through the Anti-Bionid Federation to develop new technologies and research to combat the Bionid Hivemind ravaging Andor. GNN spoke to scientists on Earthsea reporting that they are on the lookout for live Bionid samples to be examined for study, which - they say - will accelerate research on the proposed new anti-Bionid weapon.

VERTEX COLONIAL GROUP DISCOVER MEGAVOX ON DROSS

A variety of unusual lifeforms have been discovered on Dross by the Vertex Colonial Group. Dross is a large class M planet with a rich biosphere, bordering Vertinia space. Expedition Leader Paulus Brannigan notes the particularly unusual qualities of the lifeforms on the planet, which VCG are naming the ‘Megavox’, both due to their size, incredible vocal calls, intelligence - but chiefly for the Colonial Group - their protein density. Most varieties of Megavox appear to have protein and tissue calorific density orders of magnitude higher than most discovered lifeforms, making them a unique and highly exotic form of life worthy of further study, experts say.

Vertex Colonial Group shareholders are overjoyed at the news and have ordered full exploitation of the local biosphere for mass relocation and breeding of the lifeforms across Human Space to be used as a food source in industrial mass food production, GNN reports.
