ADMIRAL CHARLOTTE MARIE LOST OVER SKARO
Solas Na Gealai mourn the loss of their esteemed Admiral Charlotte Marie, who is missing in action following interaction with an unknown energy anomaly over Skaro. This is the final recording recovered from the SNG transport Morrígu, which was carrying out a diplomatic mission as part of the Unity 5 mission to Skaro. These final harrowing moments were recorded on an ejected black box transmission:
“Oh, what’s that? Commander, can you scan that energy signature on the surface? Oh no, oh dear…. bzzt bzzt… mayday mayday, this is … aboard the SNG ship … we appear to be caught in a … anomaly over Skaro, we can barely hold our position - mayday mayday this is the…” Listen to the final recording of Admiral Charlotte Marie via holonet.
The cause of the incident is unknown, GNN Science Correspondent Jackson Lamb suggests it could be a genuine anomaly caused by the artifact, some sort of ‘test firing’ of the device or an Alarian military incident and subsequent cover up.
The Alarian Imperium press office released the following statement: “We are surprised and saddened to hear about the loss of the admiral. We mourn such terrible occurrences. We were not expecting a delegation from the SNG at this time. We suggest that the members of Unity 5 actually communicate with each other effectively in future to avoid such accidents. We would have made sure the area was safe if we had known a delegation from the SNG was arriving”.

ALARIAN IMPERIUM UNVEILS “FOREIGN DESTABILISATION PLOT”
In a dramatic broadcast from the Grand Arena on Temidura last night, First Child Lucien Ashborn addressed the Imperium and the wider sector, presenting what Alarian officials describe as evidence of a coordinated foreign conspiracy to destabilise the Alarian state from within. Dozens of detained individuals - described by Imperial Security as foreign agents, collaborators and traitors - were paraded before the crowds prior to execution in the arena, broadcast live across all Imperial media channels. Ashborn delivered a forceful address, declaring that “agents of the so-called Unity 5 alliance sought to infiltrate our institutions, corrupt our citizens, and fund subversive elements to undermine the peace and security the Imperium has built in the name of the Empress.” The First Child called on independent worlds to take note: “Who is next? Who will they target who doesn’t bow down to the idea of a one-sector government? Riker II? Maybe even the home where you live! But in the name of the Empress, I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to our noble Imperium.”
The broadcast has provoked sharply divided reactions across the sector. Within Imperium space, the response has been fiercely supportive - patriotic rallies have been reported on Temidura, Gloriana and across Alarian holdings, and anti-foreign sentiment has surged. Several independent worlds bordering Imperium territory have issued statements expressing concern over the allegations, with the Mollari Republic on Mollari calling for “an immediate and transparent inquiry into the conduct of all parties.” On AFCO’s capital world of Dalek, where anti-government protests have simmered for months over the leaked Unity 5 transcripts, the Alarian allegations have added fresh fuel - the Free Means Free Coalition citing the broadcast as “further proof that the Tang administration’s secret diplomacy is endangering AFCO citizens.”
However, diplomatic analysts across the sector have noted that the evidence presented, while dramatic in presentation, appears to describe plans that were in their earliest stages rather than an operational conspiracy, detailing a so-called proposed “Operation Ouraboros” involving efforts at money laundering and elite manipulation. GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka observed that “no financial transactions, no agents-in-place, and no operational infrastructure were actually displayed - what we saw was a description of intentions, not actions.” AFCO diplomats declined to comment publicly, though sources within the government described the broadcast as “theatrical overreach designed for domestic consumption.” VC government officials responded to the executions of VC citizens: “The VC was deeply disturbed by news of these cowardly executions of its citizens. This was an act of cold blooded murder. It was a baseless attack on all Unity 5 civilians and we will make sure justice prevails.”
Latest in: the Alarian Imperium have issued an embargo on all AFCO and VC trade and goods, all citizens with affiliation to AFCO or VC are to be immediately deported from Imperium territory and all visas revoked, in addition AI embassy and consulate staff within those territories are to be immediately recalled.

FEDERATION FLEET BLASTS VENTA
GNN have received reports of a targeted bombardment of the planet Venta by Terran Federation forces. Current information suggests the target was an uninhabited northern desert region and no casualties have been reported as yet. Local authorities did not receive notification of the assault. The Northern Democratic Colonial Authority (NDCA) in whose territory the bombardment was carried out issued a strong protest to Federation envoys. Dawnstar Colony officials were not available for comment.
The Terran Navy released a press statement coinciding with the strike, stating:
“The UTF has carried out a routine military training exercise that involved surface strike capabilities. Prior to the engagement we ensured that the strike would not affect populated areas. UTF sector command salutes the professionalism and capability of the UTF forces involved in the exercise and the people of Venta for their understanding.”
GNN news drones surveyed the site following the six hour bombardment and noted the blasts had penetrated the planetary crust, reaching at least one mile in depth. Terran drones were seen deploying to the blast zone, surveying the inner walls of the crater, as sand from the dunes above began to drift and blow into the darkness below. Stay tuned for more on this developing story.

NEW GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHED ON RIKER
As Rikerian Empire forces in the capital finally capitulate after more than 8 months of fighting, a new government has been declared, to be known as the Rikerian Republican Triumvirate (RRT). The Triumvirate, is a new interim council made up of three major political leaders, Marcus Babooth, Linzie Hooch and John Rewbell, who previously worked in underground opposition to the regime of Marshal Petak Loseer, as part of the so-called 19 March Movement (19MM). The Triumvirate, working closely with LGR occupation forces, has already begun to establish authority among cities and towns of the Rikerian Empire. LGR Military Secretary Wun Punch was present at the inaugural gala for the establishment of the Triumvirate, remarking that “today is a new dawn for the people of Riker, with the full support of the Grand Republic”.
As a general stabilisation and peace began to descend on the former territories of the Rikerian Empire, the people of the new Rikerian Republic Triumvirate celebrated, sharing in communal “republican ragout”, the waving of LGR and RRT flags, and establishing new Altars of Reason in towns and cities across the Republic - large stone pillars engraved with the Principles of Reason, with a bright symbolic flame burning atop each pillar, day and night.
While humanitarian efforts are still underway and giant freighters from the LGR and other regional powers provide much needed supplies to the war-torn population, many across Riker II, both Algeronian or Rikerian, harbour a glimmer of hope for a new peace.

BIONID CAPTURED ON ANDOR
In a lightning raid conducted by Seeker Commonwealth forces, with the support of SILK fleet assets, 14 ground transports undertook a rapid extraction operation, managing to capture a single live Bionid sample.
In grave news, despite targeting a relatively isolated Bionid contingent, the operation faced significant attack from atmospheric ‘winged’ Bionid forms, and a ‘harrowing’ ground assault, killing all but two of the 14 assault teams.
The remaining combat teams are now in deep quarantine, whilst a joint SILK-SKC service is to be held to remember those who lost their lives in the operation. The Bionid sample is due to be shipped to waiting research teams.

PROXIMA LAUNCH MAJOR MEDIA CAMPAIGN
The Proxima Federal Republic has launched a sweeping public information campaign across Proximan and allied media networks, positioning the Republic as the linchpin of stability in Sector 005. Slick new holovids running on prime-time rotation feature PFR Navy vessels escorting merchant convoys, Proximan diplomats shaking hands at the Unity 5 orbital above Parliament, and dramatic reconstructions of Bionid War-era fleet actions set to stirring orchestral scores. The campaign’s tagline - “Standing Watch, Standing With You” - has already saturated socialwave platforms Glimr and Ziv, and Proximan cultural attachés have been distributing promotional material to independent world media outlets across the sector. The messaging is clear: Proximan military presence means protection, not projection.
But not everyone is buying it. GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka notes that Proximan anti-Bionid operations in Sector 005 have been largely contracted out to private security groups such as ZBC subsidiary Morlana Heavy Industries, with PFR Navy assets conspicuously absent from frontline containment efforts around the Andor system - a role currently filled by the SNG and SILK. Trade protection along key shipping lanes remains patchy at best, with piracy rates in the sector growing despite Proximan claims of active convoy escort operations. “The holovids show a lot of frigates with their running lights on,” Vassenka remarked drily. “I’d like to see them with their weapons hot.” Proximan officials point to the Republic’s consistent diplomatic engagement through the Unity 5 initiative and the Anti-Bionid Federation framework as evidence of genuine commitment, and to be fair, Proximan envoys have been among the most active and constructive voices in multilateral forums this year, remarked Professor Wick of the New Edinburgh Policy Lab. Whether good diplomacy alone is enough to justify the campaign’s rather grander military claims is a question the Republic’s critics - and its allies - are likely to keep asking.

WARBIRDS OF LIBERTY SECURE VICTORY ON RIKER
LGR MilSec Wun Punch has been dispatched to Riker II following a significant victory over Rikerian forces by occupation forces.
Grande Republique forces report they have effectively eliminated large-scale opposition from Rikerian Empire forces. In a last bid attempt, the Rikerian military gathered their remaining intact force elements for a pyrrhic assault on LGR staging posts near the Rikerian capital, taking the LGR by surprise and forcing LGR ground units into retreat.
However, the success was short lived - orbital support from the 1st Strike Group De Gaulle hammered the now exposed formations, with the 1st Fighter Group racing in to re-establish air supremacy and - weaving between the orbital plasma blasts from LGR heavy cruisers Marat and Sade - soundly defeated Rikerian forces in a series of lightning strikes. General William Picard of the Rikerian forces occupying the capital Beard issued a full surrender for forces under his command, making up the bulk of remaining Rikerian active military assets. A single LGR strike fighter was lost in the engagement; the pilot has not yet been recovered.
Following the surrender, Wun Punch awarded the 1st Fighter Group the highest military honours, renaming the entire fighter group, the Warbirds of Liberty, for their ‘sacrifice, courage and professionalism’.
Whilst LGR sources claim many of his cabinet have been killed in recent airstrikes, the whereabouts of Rikerian Empire Grand Marshal Petak Loseer himself is still unknown, unsubstantiated rumours suggest he may have fled offworld in exile seeking support to retake the Rikerian Empire.

“GOING, GOING, GLORY!” SAY SEEKERS
The Seekers Commonwealth has unveiled its latest cultural export - and it isn’t a hymnal. Going, Going, Glory!, a new state-sponsored holo-series produced by the Tempting Word Directorate, takes viewers behind the scenes of the Commonwealth’s sprawling network of auction houses, from the elite invitation-only rarities rooms on Sirx Siricius to the bustling general markets on Sirx Soter where colonists bid on everything from reclaimed starship parts to vintage Earth-era curiosities. Each episode features deep dives into the provenance of items on offer, profiles of the eccentric sellers and determined buyers who populate the auction floors, and enough last-second bidding drama to rival a fleet engagement. The show premiered to strong holoratings across SKC worlds and is now being syndicated on independent holonet channels across Sector 005.
Early reviews are glowing. GNN entertainment correspondent Maz Turano called it “the most unexpectedly gripping thing to come out of the Commonwealth since We Spit in the Eye of the Gods,” noting the show’s appeal cuts across demographics - antiquarians, traders, treasure hunters and the merely nosy alike. The Seekers, ever meticulous in their record-keeping, appear to have found a way to turn that obsessive cataloguing instinct into compelling television. Archibald Rex, curator of the flagship Galactic Auction House, told GNN he has already seen a marked uptick in consignment enquiries from sellers across multiple polities. “People are realising we don’t just deal in Promethean relics and Empress Alaria’s laser pistols,” Rex remarked. “We deal in stories. And everyone’s got something worth selling.”

TERROR ATTACK ON ÆSVEERA
Æsveera suffered a major terror attack today at the planetary governor’s office of the capital Beorn. Governor Consul Pandel Shran, a close friend of First Child Ashborn, was injured in the attack and is now in a critical condition at Beorn’s metropolitan hospital centre. 6 people are dead, with 18 more in critical condition, in the wake of the attack.
Posted moments after the attack, the White Hand movement claimed responsibility for the attack. Until now, the White Hand was understood to be a small but growing civil resistance movement within Alarian space. Yesterday’s attack marks a serious escalation in their campaign.

HARD HITTING ANIMAL RIGHTS CAMPAIGN ON DROSS
Viral holonet vids have been making the rounds over the past week as Vertinian influencers have been documenting and raising alarm over the fate of the Megavox, the graceful giants of the world of Dross, currently being bred, domesticated and shipped for mass industrial slaughter and processing by the Vertex Colonial Group, an SKC-based long standing private colonial enterprise with contracts and activity across S5 and human space.
The Megavox are giant 40m long herbivorous titans, native to Dross, inhabiting a very rich ecosystem and biosphere on the planet. The tissues of the animal appear to have particular properties which make this particular lifeform worth significant investment in exploiting at scale. Moon Weaver vidstar k2XZO was live on her holochannel ‘XZO Live and Raw’ to millions of subscribers last night appealing to authorities to step in and save “these poor little creatures”.

CRISIS ON DALEK: PROTESTER KILLED IN LIVE-STREAMED SHOOTING
The AFCO capital world of Dalek is in crisis tonight following the killing of prominent protest leader Shenna Voss two days ago by what witnesses describe as a uniformed AFCO Colonial Security officer during a mass demonstration in Neeson Square, near Tribunal Plaza. The shooting, captured in full on multiple live holonet feeds and viewed by tens of millions, has ignited fury across AFCO worlds.
Voss, 34, a community organiser and founding voice of the Free Means Free Coalition, was unarmed at the time of her death. Audio from the scene captured the shooter making remarks widely interpreted as contempt for the protest movement, before disappearing into the security cordon. A general strike has paralysed Dalek’s three largest cities, barricades have gone up in the Tribunal and Dockside districts, and the Coalition - once a movement of petitions and peaceful marches - is splintering between those calling for calm and those demanding direct action against the Tang administration. Governor Cacutt’s assertion that the shooter cannot be identified among registered security personnel has done nothing to quell public anger - if anything, it has deepened it. President Tang has not yet addressed the crisis publicly and his whereabouts are unknown. Across the sector, reactions have ranged from expressions of solidarity with the protesters to pointed silence from governments wary of inflaming their own domestic tensions. What is clear is that the situation on Dalek has moved beyond protest. Whether it moves toward resolution or revolution may depend on what the AFCO government does in the next hundred days.

LARGE SCALE INVESTMENT IN RIGEL
Malus Nielsen, Planetary Governor of Rigel, welcomed galactic press to observe breaking ground of a vast new state shipping and industrial facility under construction. The sheer volume of local materials and labour required has near eliminated local unemployment, with Terran Press Bureau journalist Zalya Pleknov remarking, “this is a truly remarkable feat, Governor Sheev’s administration has created a blueprint for economic success and responsible state investment that can be replicated across the Federation.” Markus Otter of the Citizen, the Federation’s highest subscribed news holo, said “everyone’s talking about it, it just goes to show that when we all pull together we can do incredible things.”

SCIENTISTS REPORT CONTAINMENT BREACH ON BB-Q
Scientists at the Unified Synthetic Intelligence Research Centre (USIRC) have reported a full containment breach to SILK authorities on BB-Q. Containment protocols were immediately enacted following the Alpha Protocol alert, isolating the local holo-net and releasing hunter-killer AI modules into the local active holonet. A full moratorium on tight beam and radio transmission communication is now in effect, with local ship traffic re-routed until the AI remnant is identified.
Formally banned after the Xing-Mao Uprising of 2250, advanced AI research was suppressed by the United Earth Republic and United Earth Empire. Attitudes towards advanced AI research have relaxed since the fall of the Earth Empire, with several states including SILK and CASI explicitly experimenting with or harnessing advanced superintelligences. The risks of free roaming advanced AI across cyber space represent a major threat, which most states still maintain strict laws and prohibitions upon.

AI FREIGHTER ATTEMPTS BLOCKADE RUN
LGR forces over Riker II have intercepted the Alarian Imperium freighter ASS Lucky Strike at the blockade line around Riker II. Posing as a humanitarian ship with aid goods for the citizens of Riker, the imperial ship was flagged for inspection by Grand Republic naval forces. The ship ignored the hails from LGR naval escort ships and proceeded at flank speed towards the planet but was disabled by the pursuing ships. Upon full search and inspection, LGR sources say, the vessel was transporting both humanitarian aid and high quality military weaponry, loitering munitions and a variety of lethal devices, presumably for use by resistance forces on Riker II. The ship has now been impounded by LGR forces.
GNN understands that a second vessel, the Proximan flagged SS Dagenham also attempted to breach the LGR blockade over Riker, but complied with orders to power down for inspection. Once cleared, the vessel was then escorted back to the M25 limit.

VC EMISSARY BROKERS TALKS BETWEEN RIVAL BA17 COLONIES
GNN correspondent Shaya Kalek reports from Great Wallop, where a Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy diplomatic delegation has been making waves on the divided colony world of BA17. The planet, home to over a million colonists originally settled by United Expeditions Corp, has long operated as two de facto separate polities - the city-state of Nod on the southern continent and the breakaway Great Wallop Colony on the northern - a schism dating back to a bitter falling out among the original Colonial Council decades ago. The VC emissary, accompanied by a cultural outreach programme that has flooded local holonet channels with VC lifestyle content, appears to be the first external actor to seriously engage with both settlements, building on goodwill earned through humanitarian assistance provided to the planet last year. In Nod, where VC popularity is running high, locals spoke openly to Kalek about the benefits of closer ties with the Confederacy. In Great Wallop, the reception has been politer but cooler - GWC Council Chair Dettori Spurl told Kalek that “we welcome friends, but BA17’s future is BA17’s business, and that business starts with sorting out our own house first.”
What precisely the VC’s long-term intentions are on BA17 remains unclear, though the scale of the diplomatic and media effort suggests this is more than a goodwill visit. Kalek notes that the VC delegation has been carefully even-handed in its engagement with both colonies, avoiding any appearance of favouring one over the other - a diplomatic tightrope that local observers say has, paradoxically, done more to get the two sides talking than years of mutual silence. Whether that translates into political alignment with the Confederacy or simply a warmer relationship remains to be seen, but for now, BA17 is hearing a lot more about the virtues of the Emerald Worlds than it ever has before.
