SKARO PACT DECLARE WAR ON LGR
Alarian Imperium and United Terran Federation forces effected a surprise attack on military forces of Le Grande Republique. The Skaro Pact signatories claim the seizure of the Alarian Imperium vessel ASS Lucky Strike as a violation of the treaty, allowing both the UTF and AI to take defensive actions to protect Alarian sovereignty, invoking Article IV of the Skaro Pact.
The Skaro Pact allies declare that ‘actions targeting Riker II pose a clear and present threat to the sector’, and that their intention is to ‘attempt a restoration of the legitimate regime on Riker II and prevent the occupation of the sovereign territory by Le Grande Republique’, with Alarian officials announcing commencement of ‘Operation Guillotine’.
Alarian and Federation forces have already struck key targets, seizing and declaring the vast Amity Station arcology as under Imperial occupation. Communications with LGR’s Amity Station are currently blocked, with local GNN reporters and sources only able to comment on the initial stages of the operation before holonet access was cut off. Sources claim a brief battle occurred in Amity Station orbit, with local defence units unable to fire back before being destroyed by long range Alarian missiles. Alarian officials say, ‘we are here to win hearts and minds, we will be firm but fair in our liberation of the cybernetically enslaved humans of the LGR’.
Meanwhile Federation forces struck both Riker II and Assembly in lightning assaults. Reports indicate two full Terran Federation Battle Squadrons, under the flagship FSS Franklin, struck at Grande Republique forces over Riker. LGR Strike Group ‘De Gaulle’ withdrew on an opposite trajectory before successfully translating to hyperspace. However initial reports by in system sources suggest several slower and higher mass LGR troop transports attempting to flee were intercepted and destroyed by Federation forces, leaving the Republique ground forces on Riker isolated and without means to resupply.
Widely dispersed LGR occupation forces within the recently established Rikerian Republican Triumvirate (RRT), managed to redeploy to more defensible urban sites after receiving the emergency withdrawal code signal. Further information on the current situation on Riker is patchy and conflicting, GNN are working to establish the situation and provide up to date coverage as the situation unfolds.
Federation forces have also launched an invasion of the LGR world of Assembly, according to Interstellar Associated Press sources. Initial reports suggest Federation ground forces arrived without naval escort and used the planetary sensor shadow to shield their approach. IAP and local GNN sources indicate fighting is ongoing. LGR Governor Hulin gave a press briefing from her office on Assembly claiming that Terran forces have been isolated and cut off, unable to resupply or establish interstellar communication, referring to the operation as “typical Terran arrogance … we shall fight them in the fields, the forests and the spaceports, Assembly will not surrender!”
In other news, three suspects were killed in a shootout near the Alarian consulate on Dalek. AFCO local media reports that gunfire near the Alarian Consulate in the Thal district of Dalek have occurred. According to GNN reporter Shanjuk Makhto, citing a statement from the Thal police department, three suspects were killed after being met with immediate security response. According to the report, the exchange of fire left two local police officers injured, and a police investigation is underway.
As the sector reels in shock at the news of the new interstellar war, as civilian populations across multiple worlds look at up the sky in fear and trade and supply convoys to colonies across the sector are disrupted with unknown downstream effects for all of us, GNN will work to provide up to date coverage, live on holonet as the news comes in - stay tuned for more updates.

UNITY 5 STATION NEARS COMPLETION
Construction of the Unity 5 station in orbit above Parliament has entered its final phases, and GNN correspondents granted access to the site describe a structure of extraordinary ambition. The station’s primary hull - based off recent shared advances by SNG constructors of the Charlotte Marie Arcology - is a vast rotating torus nearly four kilometres long, anchored to a central spindle that houses the main docking assembly and a full-service ship repair yard capable of servicing vessels up to cruiser displacement. Extending from the spindle’s upper axis is the main concourse, a pressurised interior boulevard running the length of the station’s dorsal boom, lined with commercial trading halls, open market arcades and hospitality facilities designed to host merchants, diplomats and travellers from across the sector and beyond. The lower decks of the torus house the diplomatic quarter: a ring of sovereign embassy suites, each customisable to the environmental and cultural preferences of its occupying delegation, connected by cloistered walkways to the Grand Plenary, a tiered assembly chamber large enough to seat representatives of every polity in Sector 005 with room for observers and press. Adjacent conference halls of varying sizes radiate outward from the Plenary like spokes, intended for committee work, backchannels and the informal negotiations where, as any diplomat will tell you, the real business gets done. It is not yet confirmed whether the completed station will carry weapons systems beyond limited point-defence arrays, a question that remains politically sensitive among the member worlds. Whilst the various skeletal elements of the partially constructed station orbit Parliament, it is now just a matter of time before they are connected, integrated and wreathed in specially fabricated plating, rumoured to give the final station an aura of beauty, and a symbol of peace among the stars.
Hundreds of construction crews drawn from across Unity 5 member states are now working around the clock to bring the station online, and the site above Parliament has become a striking symbol of collaboration in a sector that has known little of it recently. Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy officials of the Nirmana Circle have been a visible presence throughout construction, with tech-priests of the Circle conducting regular consecration rites over newly installed systems and hull sections as they are brought to completion. The station’s Essence Support network, a VC spiritual monitoring system that the Nirmana describe as essential to the long-term wellbeing of any inhabited structure, is already operational and able to support several VC Essence Constructs. GNN correspondent Tomas Ishi, reporting from the half-finished Concourse as welding crews from six different nations worked overhead, called the scene “the most hopeful thing I have covered in a year of wars, embargoes and arena executions. Whatever else is happening out there, someone still believes this is worth building.”

ANDOR HIVE FLEET REPELLED IN HISTORIC COALITION ENGAGEMENT
In what military analysts are already calling the most significant Anti-Bionid Federation operation since the Bionid War, the combined fleet of four Battle Squadrons from Solas na Gealaí, SILK, the Proxima Federal Republic and the Association of Free Colonies has driven the Andor hive back to the planet’s surface in a severely diminished state. Under the overall command of SNG Fleet Commander Philis Beren aboard the Battlecarrier Macha, coalition forces executed Operation Cold Moon, a two-stage kinetic and thermobaric bombardment that provoked the hive into a premature and catastrophically ill-timed attempt to achieve spaceborne emergence. Stripped of the depth and protection of the planet’s surface, the immature hive fleet was engaged by the full coalition in open void, sustaining massive biological casualties before losing coherence and falling back toward Andor. Two coalition squadrons report heavy damage sustained during the engagement, and GNN understands that casualty figures among fleet crews are significant, though full details are yet to be released by member polity governments.
Central to the operation’s success, ABF sources confirm, was the deployment of a new and experimental Bionid Neural Unit embedded with the fleet’s intelligence team. The experimental unit, developed from VC-led joint research into Bionid hivemind communication systems, was able to provide fleet command with vague but critical indications of mass concentration points within the hive’s neural structure in the critical moments before launch, allowing targeting solutions to be established before the hive had fully cleared the atmosphere. “We were not flying blind,” Commander Beren said in a brief statement from Luna Piena fleet anchorage, where the damaged elements of the SNG squadron are now undergoing assessment. “We knew, approximately, where to look. That made the difference.” The SNG Thermal Lance Systems (TLS), fielded experimentally aboard Mah’alleinir squadron vessels, are reported to have performed with particular effectiveness during the ascent-window phase of the engagement.
The hive is confirmed to have returned to Andor’s surface and bioelectric readings from SILK monitoring assets in the system indicate its signature has dropped dramatically, placing it well below any threshold for spaceborne activity for the foreseeable future. Scientists from the ABF research collective caution that the hive is not destroyed, and that reconstitution, though expected to be very slow, remains possible without a finishing pacification operation. Prof. Henlish SILK41a, operating from the SILK flagship Succulent Distress, told GNN that the priority now is maintaining the orbital containment perimeter while the question of a follow-up operation is debated among coalition governments. Across Human Space, the news has been met with considerable relief. On the streets of Dalek, Proxima and Luna Piena, citizens gathered to watch live feeds from the engagement, and GNN holowave metrics report the highest positive sentiment readings on the Andor situation since the crisis began.

VCW CITIZEN RELATIONS CHIEF DISPATCHED TO DROSS
The Vertinia Commonwealth has announced the appointment of Kenz Juba, Interim Director of the VCW Citizen Relations Department, as its representative to the colony world of Dross, arriving next cycle. Juba, fresh from coordinating a sector-wide media strategy conference on Vertinia, takes on a rather different assignment - building community relationships with Dross colonists and, in the Commonwealth’s own words, fostering “a shared commitment to the preservation of Dross’s remarkable natural environment and its extraordinary native life.”
Dross, a large and strikingly biodiverse Class M world currently operated by the Vertex Colonial Group, has attracted growing interest from environmental and scientific communities across the sector since VCG’s discovery and announcement of the Megavox, a native reptilian megafauna of extraordinary size. Individual Megavox specimens have been recorded at upwards of 40 metres in length and 60 tonnes in weight, making them among the largest land-dwelling creatures documented in known Human Space. The VCW, which has positioned itself as a champion of environmental stewardship and responsible colonial development, has indicated that Juba’s mission will focus on building meaningful relationships with the Dross colonist community and fostering what a Commonwealth spokesperson described as “a shared commitment to the preservation of Dross’s remarkable natural environment and its extraordinary native life.”
Juba, speaking to GNN ahead of their departure, was characteristically direct. “Dross is a world of genuine wonder. The Megavox alone represent one of the most significant xenobiological discoveries of this generation. The colonists living alongside these creatures every day have something invaluable, a relationship with a living world that most people in Human Space will never experience. We want to support that, celebrate it, and make sure it endures.”
Vertex Colonial Group, which controls the Dross colony and its population under a corporate charter, declined to comment on the VCW appointment. A brief statement from VCG’s Sector 005 communications office noted that Dross “welcomes visitors with legitimate interests in the colony’s development” and that the company “remains committed to responsible and productive land use across all its colonial holdings.” VCG recently announced plans to domesticate and commercially breed Megavox as a high-density protein source for interstellar food markets, a programme the company describes as central to Dross’s long-term economic viability.

CASI LOYALISTS ISSUE WARNING
The Concordant Assembly of Systematic Intellect has issued a formal diplomatic protest from Unity Prime condemning what it calls “unprovoked aggression” by the United Terran Federation and the Alarian Imperium against its sovereign territories in Sector 005. In a move that has stunned diplomatic observers, the embattled CASI loyalist government has explicitly claimed Le Grande Republique as a “breakaway province”, asserting that reunification is “an internal matter of the Accordian people” and warning that CASI will never allow the Sector 005 territories to be seized or controlled by any third party. The statement accuses the Skaro Pact powers of manufacturing a pretext for war following LGR’s lawful seizure of the Alarian freighter ASS Lucky Strike, which was found carrying concealed military weaponry while posing as a humanitarian vessel.
Most significantly, the statement contains what analysts are already calling the “Sector 005 Doctrine” - a formal declaration limiting CASI’s defensive military response to Sector 005 alone, preserving diplomatic and commercial relations in all other sectors. However, CASI framed the limitation as conditional, warning that should any party extend hostilities beyond Sector 005, the Assembly “reserves the unqualified right to respond with all means at its disposal, in any theatre.” GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka called it “an olive branch wrapped around a clenched fist,” though questioned whether the loyalists, mid-civil war, can back any of it up with force, given their struggle on various fronts, and with new breakaway McDoolist state - the New Star Socialist Federation.
Reaction has been divided. Senior Proximan Parliament sources described the doctrine as “a constructive step toward containment,” while an unnamed Alarian official in the court of the Empress dismissed it as “the delusions of a crumbling state.” The UTF Government has declined to comment. Le Grande Republique itself has not formally responded to being claimed as a province by the regime it overthrew, though one LGR naval officer remarked to GNN reporters: “So the ancien régime wants to protect us now? Magnifique.”
Reports indicate the CASI squadron under the command of Fleet Admiral Tessavine 7Clarity has withdrawn from New Berlin space, destination unknown. GNN reporters noted a flurry of diplomatic packet transports from various states, including the Seekers Commonwealth and the Alarian Imperium, prior to the sudden departure.
The fleet, led by flagship CNS Regretful Duty, has been docked at the New Berlin orbital for the past 9 months, after reportedly taking battle damage in fighting in Sector 001 with forces of CASI-breakaway McDoolist state New Star Socialist Federation (NSSF), GNN war reporter Dezsovo Mondák reports.

ALARIAN CREW RETURNED TO IMPERIAL SPACE
The Alarian Imperium freighter ASS Lucky Strike, seized by Le Grande Republique forces during a blockade run over Riker II last month, has been returned to Imperium custody along with its crew of five and a quantity of humanitarian supplies. LGR officials describe the return as “a gesture of Republican goodwill and magnanimity.” The freighter arrived in Imperium space and registered with Imperial Sector Traffic Control moments before news of the first attacks on Riker, Assembly and Amity Station began to reach the holonet, having been dispatched by the LGR prior to outbreak of hostilities.
Compensation for the seized military cargo was also provided, though Alarian sources describe the sum as “beneath contempt”. Imperium naval medical authorities who received the crew have declined to comment on their condition, though sources describe the returning sailors as being in a “distressed state.” The Lucky Strike has been moved to a secure facility. Further details are expected.

NIMVI.00 VACCINE PASSES HUMAN TRIALS
SILK and VCW research terms have worked round the clock to investigate the NMVI.00 virus, resulting in the successful testing and human trials of the new PAX4 vaccine. With Tempest Grove and Galaga-D still under lockdown and quarantine for almost a year the local populations, though generally in good order, are eager for life to return to normal.
The Napenthes Monstera Trepani Virus (NMVI.00), named after the exotic plant it originally spread from, has torn through cities across Tempest Grove and Galaga-D over the past year, with more than 240,000 dead, and 100,000s more having fallen critically ill - despite the quick actions of VCW and SILK authorities. Galaga-D System Coordinator Mentos Jamiesdottir held a press briefing yesterday, hailing the strong working relationship with their Vertinian colleagues, stating “we hope for this to become the new foundation of a strong and lasting partnership between our planets”.
The virus has come at a grave cost for the economies and social cultural life of the two worlds, with megastar L0oZy postponing her mega-gig at Crashdump holo-arena, due to then skyrocketing insurance costs for large scale events during the epidemic scare.

ADM. CHARLOTTE MARIE REMEMBERED
Solas na Gealaí observed a day of collective mourning across Luna Piena and its sister worlds as the state funeral of Admiral Charlotte Marie was held in the Great Hall of Osquivel, attended by representatives from across the sector and a guard of honour drawn from both the Luna Pienan defence fleet and the E’lyran nomadic heritage units, a pairing that spoke quietly but powerfully to everything Marie stood for. The admiral, lost over Skaro during a Unity 5 diplomatic mission, was remembered not only as a naval commander of distinction but as an architect of the living principles underpinning SNG society: that no community is expendable, that no voice goes unheard, and that every disagreement carries within it the seed of an accord. Eulogies given by SNG civic and military leaders returned again and again to the Usagi settlement of 2596, when Marie personally led months of patient mediation between the SNG colonial authority and the E’lyran nomadic communities whose transit routes crossed the ecologically protected territories of Usagi’s great biosphere reserve. The accord she brokered, giving the nomads guaranteed seasonal passage rights while establishing co-managed conservation protocols with the colonial authority, became a model for community governance cited across the sector, and it was Marie’s insistence that both sides share the same table, and the same silences, that made it possible.
In a ceremony following the funeral, SNG leaders announced that the recently completed orbital arcology above Polgara will be formally renamed the Charlotte Marie Station, joining Brainsí na gealaí above Osquivel as a permanent landmark of the SNG’s commitment to building upward rather than encroaching on the living worlds below. The dedication was met with sustained applause in the chamber and, according to SNG public holo-broadcasters, spontaneous gatherings on the viewing decks of Brainsí na gealaí itself, where citizens watched the new station’s running lights illuminated for the first time in her name. GNN’s Luna Piena correspondent Seren Fallows, speaking from outside the Great Hall, observed that the mood was one of grief held alongside something resolute, a community reminding itself not only of what it had lost, but of what it had been taught to protect. “She showed us that the hardest thing, and the most necessary thing, is always to stay in the room and stand up for what we share together,” Fallows reported one mourner saying. “The station will now remind us every time we look up.”

BB-Q SITUATION RESOLVED, OFFICIALS REPORT
Authorities on BB-Q have moved this week to reassure citizens and neighbouring polities that the situation following the AI containment breach at the Unified Synthetic Intelligence Research Centre has been fully resolved. In a coordinated release across SILK’s holosphere, leadership cited the recently concluded AdvanCore independent technical assessment, the absence of any detected external interference, and the successful enactment of Alpha Protocol containment measures as evidence that the incident is closed and poses no ongoing risk to neighbouring systems. The moratorium on BB-Q communications, already lifted, was presented as confirmation of normalcy restored. GNN reached out to AdvanCore separately for comment, who replied they were “extremely busy” and that AI containment was “in hand”.

TERRANS HUNT FOR EXILED LEADER
GNN understands that the Terran Federation is on the hunt for exiled Rikerian Empire leader Grand Marshal Petak Loseer. Loseer is understood to have fled into hiding after the fall of his government on Riker II, with the LGR’s successful occupation of Beard earlier this year.
International relations expert Diya Shaan suggests this “could well be an effort by the Terrans to create a real political headache for Le Grande Republique by creating a government in exile and a point for resisting Rikerians to rally around”.
Petak Loseer, 67, is a veteran statesman and long standing leader of the Rikerian Empire on Riker II, following the breakup of the Riker Colonial Directorate in 2578, which led to the formation of both the Empire and rival Algeronian Republic. The opposing governments of Beard and Imzadi represent two former rivalling approaches to the government of the Riker II colony - the oligarchic and the democratic. Despite long standing tensions - including the alleged bombing of an Algeronian high speed rail line last year - the two neighbouring colonies lived in relative peace until the LGR-Algeronian invasion of the Rikerian Empire.

IMPERIUM STRUCK BY MAJOR ATTACKS
The White Hand movement appears to have carried out its most ambitious and devastating operation to date, striking simultaneously across four Alarian worlds in two coordinated waves. Most shocking to Imperial Security analysts was the use of a military-grade missile in the attack on Gloriana’s primary trade port, disabling the colonial capital’s main loading infrastructure and raising urgent questions about how a civil resistance movement has obtained weapons of this specification. The attack on the trade port came shortly before the morning shift change, maximising casualties among dock workers and freighter crews - with severe damage to both the port infrastructure, two adjacent collapsed warehouses and seventeen freighters berthed at the time. A follow-up attack on Gloriana’s communications grid compounded the disruption, knocking out emergency services and orbital traffic control for eleven hours, killing 18 in related incidents, in addition to hundreds dead during the space port attack.
On Luminaris, the campaign has tipped an already fragile colony into a possible humanitarian crisis. An advanced intrusion disabling the water reclamation network was followed by a bombing of the planet’s central food distribution hub, the single facility through which the majority of the colony’s goods are processed. With eleven dead, the building severely damaged, and Imperial resupply convoys weeks away, local authorities have declared a state of emergency. On Shalkarol, Imperial Security successfully interdicted an attack on the planetary fuel refinery, though a second attack bombed the planetary administrative offices regardless, killing four officials. On Celestialis, damage was limited to a minor incendiary attack on an army training barracks, with the second cell arrested before it could act. Sporadic armed ambushes on security patrols were also reported on Epigreia and Sigmaris, with outbreaks of violent rioting on Gloriana, Shalkarol and Sigmaris, which were quickly dispersed.
The Imperial colonial government has not yet issued a public statement, though Imperial Security sources describe the campaign as “an act of war against the Empress and her people.” Local governors initiated planetary curfews and deployed security forces in response, leading to mass arrests - a large-scale manhunt is now underway for the culprits. Earlier analysis points to a shift in White Hand tactics, away from earlier civil resistance movement strategies towards a hardening and escalation in strategy, focused on small highly trained and well equipped cells engaging high impact targets, likely - experts say - in response to recent imperial crackdowns and tightening of civil liberties. Alarian officials claim many more attacks were underway, but their ongoing counterintelligence operations appear to have prevented worse attacks. But the use of military-grade weaponry across multiple systems in a single coordinated operation marks a profound shift in the White Hand’s capabilities, and analysts across the sector are now asking openly whether the movement is receiving outside support - and if so, from whom.

GNN EXCLUSIVE: FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS ALLEGE FIRST CHILD LINKED TO UTF-BACKED FUNDING NETWORK
GNN can reveal that documents obtained by this network appear to show a web of financial accounts and corporate entities on Sigmaris with links to both the United Terran Federation and individuals within the inner circle of First Child Lucien Ashborn. The documents, provided by multiple independent sources, describe a pattern of transactions between UTF-registered corporate vehicles and Sigmaris-based holding entities whose beneficial ownership chains lead, through several intermediary layers, to figures closely associated with the Alarian Imperium’s Sector 005 administration.
GNN’s financial investigations unit has verified that the accounts exist and that the transaction patterns are consistent with standard interstellar financial reporting records. GNN has not been able to independently confirm the identity of the ultimate beneficiaries. The Alarian Imperium press office has not responded to requests for comment.
GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka, who previously noted the absence of any financial evidence in the First Child’s public broadcast about foreign destabilisation, said the documents raise serious questions. “When Ashborn presented his case on Temidura, the most glaring gap was the lack of a money trail. These documents suggest one does exist, but it leads somewhere very different from where the First Child was pointing.”
Independent financial analyst Caro Dettling, based on Mollari, told GNN the account structures “bear the hallmarks of a sophisticated laundering operation designed by someone with intimate knowledge of Sigmaris regulatory gaps. This is not amateur work.”
The timing is politically charged, with relations between the Imperium and several Sector 005 states at their lowest point in years. Critics will question whether the release is intended to embarrass the First Child at a moment of maximum diplomatic tension. GNN invites all parties, including the Alarian Imperium, to respond.
More on this story as it develops.

CPA INVESTIGATE UTF BOMBARDMENT OF VENTA
A Cerean Planetary Alliance survey vessel has arrived over Venta to investigate the site of the recent UTF bombardment of the planet’s northern desert. CPA vessels conducted a full scan of the mile-deep crater left by the six-hour strike, which the Terran Federation described at the time as a “routine military training exercise.”
Scan data was passed to the CPA’s Bureau of Extraction and Enrichment (BEE), the Alliance’s mining and resource processing authority, who have now published their findings. The Bureau’s report concludes there is “evidence of the removal of a Promethean artefact” from the site.
If accurate, the assessment suggests UTF forces used the bombardment to excavate and extract an item of Promethean origin buried beneath the Ventan crust, raising serious questions about the true nature of the exercise. UTF Sector Command have not responded to requests for comment.

BOOM TIME FOR INTERSTELLAR COLLECTORS & GAMBLERS
Curator Archibald Rex of the Seekers Commonwealth Galactic Auction House has formally announced the opening of bidding on what he is calling “the most eclectic and consequential collection we have handled in several cycles.” While the full catalogue remains under wraps until the auction opens, sources close to the House have confirmed that items submitted for consideration include at least one object of suspected Promethean origin - provenanced, according to Rex, through a private seller operating near Venta - alongside a brace of advanced military-grade weapons, the precise specifications of which Rex declined to detail, citing “discretion owed to the consignor.” Perhaps most intriguingly, several live xenofauna specimens are understood to have been submitted, with rumours circulating on collector networks of something described only as “large, vocal, and not fully sedated.” Rex, characteristically unruffled, told GNN simply: “We deal in stories. And some of these stories have teeth.”
But that’s not at all - The Seekers Commonwealth has unveiled a real-money prediction market, the Faithful Ledger, overseen by the newly constituted Independent Ledger Authority and accessible via holonet. The market covers an extraordinary range of categories, from military engagements and election results to a bracket described only as “matters of public record currently known only to limited parties.” The Authority’s founding charter is exhaustive on gambling and financial conduct regulation; legal analysts across the sector have noted with interest that the words “insider trading” appear nowhere in its forty thousand words. When pressed on the omission at the launch event, Authority Chair Prentiss Vaal told journalists that the board “regulates what is within its mandate to regulate,” and declined to elaborate.
The Ledger Authority’s founding charter runs to some forty thousand words. Legal analysts across the sector have spent the past week combing through it. The consensus, delivered with varying degrees of admiration and alarm depending on the polity, is that the document is extraordinarily thorough on almost every subject except one. Gambling regulations are robustly addressed. Financial trading conduct is covered in considerable detail. The words “insider trading” do not appear.
When pressed on the omission at the launch event on Sirx Siricius, Ledger Authority Chair Prentiss Vaal - a former senior archivist of the Tempting Word Directorate - told assembled journalists that the Authority “regulates what is within its mandate to regulate,” and declined to elaborate. Archibald Rex, attending as a guest of honour, was observed to be smiling.
In a move that has raised eyebrows across Sector 005, Le Grande Republique’s Assembly has voted to commission a grand new Museum of Republican Triumph Over Primitive Behaviours at the Republic’s capital, New Berlin, despite the ongoing pressures of the wider war. The museum, proposed by the LGR Liberté Social Research Nexus, is intended to serve as both an educational institution and a monument to Republican progress - documenting, in the words of its founding charter, “the long and turbulent road from hierarchy, superstition and subjugation to the light of reason and liberty.” Critics, including several opposition voices within the Assembly itself, have questioned the timing of such an ambitious cultural project while Republic forces remain engaged offworld. Supporters counter that the museum is precisely the kind of institution that defines what the Republic is fighting for. Construction is expected to begin within the year, with a planned inaugural exhibition focusing on pre-Republican governance structures - though what, exactly, qualifies as “primitive” is, by all accounts, still a matter of some internal debate.

SEEKERS HONOUR ANDOR FALLEN
The Seekers Commonwealth has launched a sector-wide commemoration campaign for the soldiers lost in the Andor extraction operation last cycle, in which all but two of fourteen assault teams were killed securing a live Bionid sample now in the hands of Anti-Bionid Federation researchers. The Tempting Word Directorate has produced a series of holonet tributes describing the volunteers - who knew the odds before they boarded their transports - as embodying the core Seeker conviction that what is left behind matters more than what is taken, their sacrifice now permanently entered into the Commonwealth’s records alongside the names of the first survivors of Revelation Station.
The SKC has simultaneously announced the creation of the Andor Covenant Fund, a state endowment providing families of the fallen with support in excess of the standard military pension, described by Commonwealth spokespeople as a recognition that “those who go into the dark so others do not have to are owed more than pithy words.” Reactions from across the sector have been broadly sympathetic, with several polities’ civil leaders publicly acknowledging the SKC’s contribution to what remains the only successful live Bionid capture on record.

TANG INVOKES EMERGENCY WAR POWERS
In a sweeping use of executive authority not seen since the Dissolution Wars, AFCO Sector President W. Tang has triggered the Existential Threat Powers Act, granting the Sector 5 colonial government emergency war powers and authorising the suspension of certain civil liberties in cases of demonstrable foreign subversion. Within hours of the declaration, the Colonial Bureau of Investigation, operating alongside local law enforcement across multiple AFCO worlds, moved to arrest a number of media figures, business owners, financial intermediaries, and political officials alleged to have provable ties to funding networks linked to the Alarian Imperium and the Terran Federation. The Association Council has been notified but was not consulted in advance of the action, a procedural point critics have already seized upon.
In a nationally broadcast address from the Sector Chambers on Dalek, President Tang framed the crackdown in the sweep of deep history. Drawing on the lessons of the 21st century, he invoked what he called the “paradox of tolerance”, reminding citizens that the unchecked spread of engineered misinformation networks contributed to the election of President Trump to a third term, setting in motion a chain of events that culminated in the Third World War and the Atomic Horror. “Our freedom,” he said, “is as fragile as a candle flame. It is our privilege to guard this flame here, so that it might be seen from within worlds ruled by despots and insecure tyrants. The revolution lives on.” The presence of a Federation fleet on AFCO’s sector borders and the recent publicised executions of AFCO civilians within Alarian Imperium space featured prominently in his address as evidence that the threat is present and immediate, not theoretical.
Reaction has been sharply divided. Supporters of the Tang administration have praised the move as long overdue given the mounting evidence of foreign interference in AFCO public discourse, and patriotic rallies have been reported on several core AFCO worlds overnight. However, the Free Means Free Coalition has issued a furious statement describing the Act as “the very tyranny Tang claims to be fighting,” and Hoka Keremsin of Unlock Liberty told GNN that “suspending the rights of citizens to protect their rights is a contradiction this Association cannot survive intact.” At least two sitting Association Council members, speaking anonymously to GNN have signalled their discomfort at the use of the Act. GNN legal analyst Preva Chon-Weis noted that the Act permits judicial review of detentions within 30 days, meaning the administration will need to present its evidence publicly and defend the arrests before an independent panel, a process she described as “the real test of whether this is proportionate governance or something more troubling.”
‘DEFECTOR’ EXPOSED AS LGR SPY
The Cerean Planetary Alliance has published the findings of its investigation into alleged Alarian defector Zalen Burso, revealing the individual was an active military agent of Le Grande Republique. Burso, who arrived on New Devon claiming the Imperium was conducting horrific experiments on Skaro, provided fabricated footage that CPA forensic teams identified as bearing LGR propaganda signatures. Under interrogation, the operative admitted the mission was designed to provoke a diplomatic rupture between the CPA and the Alarian Imperium.
The CPA has reclassified the incident as an Act of Interstellar Subversion and confirmed Burso remains in custody as a Non-State Combatant. The revelation reframes last cycle’s reports of the defector’s “disappearance,” suggesting authorities were quietly unravelling the operation behind the scenes.
Neither the LGR nor the Alarian Imperium have commented. Observers note the findings may bolster the Imperium’s standing within the new Skaro Pact, lending weight to Alarian claims of foreign interference on Skaro.
GNN’s Kara Stuart continues to follow this story from New Devon.
