Mysterious fleet departs new devon, course unknown

A new star in the night sky now shines down on the colony of Parliament. The new orbiting presence has become a striking symbol of collaboration in a sector that has known little of it recently. Laid down two years ago, the Unity 5 orbital station is a massive joint enterprise between the treaty signatories of the Unity 5 Charter.

The special diplomatic station features a specialised wing of sovereign embassy suites, commercial trading halls, open market arcades and hospitality facilities designed to host merchants, diplomats and travellers from across the sector and beyond. At the core of the station sits the Grand Plenary, a tiered assembly chamber large enough to seat representatives of every polity in Sector 005 with room for observers and press. Adjacent conference halls of varying sizes radiate outward from the Plenary like spokes, intended for committee work, backchannels and the informal negotiations where, as any diplomat will tell you, the real business gets done.

Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy officials of the Nirmana Circle have been a visible presence throughout construction, with tech-priests of the Circle conducting regular consecration rites over newly installed systems and hull sections as they were brought to completion. The station’s Essence Support Network, the VC spiritual monitoring system that the Nirmana describe as essential to the long-term wellbeing of any inhabited structure, is already operational and able to support several VC Essence Constructs.

Thousands from across the sector docked at the station for inaugural celebrations. A striking firework display startled assembled onlookers as diplomats gave short speeches in support of the new institution.

Hundreds of construction crews drawn from across Unity 5 member states have been hard at work for months, finally putting down tools to join in the celebrations. GNN spoke with Vertinian engineers fresh from finishing off work in the central core heading to the celebrations - GNN correspondent Tomas Ishi spoke to them about their plans for the future and about their time on the station, they said “Err, yeah, we love plants. Yeah, love plants, ‘ate pollution. Ain’t that right Feldspar?” “Yeah, love plants we do. Lovely green, leaves, peace, hope, that sort of thing. Err, yeah I guess we’ll build more of these stations. Turned out all right dinnit. This going out on GNN then, oh, Hi Ma, look I’m on the ‘olo!” So there we have it, as war rages across Sector 5, whatever else is happening out there - someone still believes this is worth building.”

Mysterious fleet departs new devon, course unknown

MYSTERIOUS FLEET DEPARTS NEW DEVON, COURSE UNKNOWN

A squadron of unflagged ships appeared over New Devon this cycle and has holoblogger conspiracy theorists working overtime, GNN reports. The squadron of specialised light ships were sighted under construction at the New Ceres fleet yards in Sector 001 for the past two years. Before arriving over New Devon, the mysterious fleet was also seen taking on additional equipment and fitting out at the Mars Federal Navy Fleet Yards.

GNN spoke to retired Proximan Admiral and intelligence expert Katja Graf, “given their apparent size and design, the squadron appears to be composed of specialised expeditionary ship designs, fitted for extended voyages in deep space”. The unflagged vessels departed New Devon on hyperspace trajectories unknown. SILK military holoblogger Luxxi Li3B3 suggested in a livecast the fleet may be a cover for renewed military operations against the Grande Republique with major implications for the balance of the conflict. Stay tuned for more on this story as it develops. Responding to requests for comment, CPA officials remarked the vessels are a private specialised mining fleet and are tasked by CPA guilds with prospecting for new resources.

Talks collapse - federation attack reason - cpa fleet fires on seeker allies

TALKS COLLAPSE - FEDERATION ATTACK REASON - CPA FLEET FIRES ON SEEKER ALLIES

TALKS BETWEEN LGR - SKARO PACT COLLAPSE

Talks between Federation, Alarian and Republican diplomats have collapsed over terms of a potential ceasefire. GNN understands the intense negotiations hinged on the point of reparations, with Skaro Pact nations arguing for long term payments to cover alleged war damages. United Terran Federation Sector Governor Prem Sheev said “the Skaro Pact has reluctantly concluded that the LGR was not participating in the peace process in good faith. Instead, we believe it sought to prolong negotiations while rearming and pursuing diplomatic efforts to draw other polities into a conflict of its own making.” GNN understands the LGR sought the expertise of renowned negotiator Professor Joshua Becker of NuUCL, though despite his assistance talks broke down on several key points.

As a precondition to continuing talks with the Skaro Pact, LGR Consul Robospierre 33X asserted Riker II and New Berlin as “part of France’s natural territory. They might not know yet that they are French, but that is indeed the case. We have no interest in other systems; those outside Space France do not concern us. We are not an imperialist power.”

With talks having failed and no ceasefire agreed, the Seekers Commonwealth, Cerean Planetary Alliance and Visvanivasah Confederacy moved to take up peacekeeping positions in defence of civilian populations on Amity Station and LGR’s state capital Reason, with aid rendered by the VC fleet over Amity Station.

FEDERATION FORCES ATTACK REASON

GNN can report that on Reason these efforts were blocked before they could be carried out. In the Reason system, the arrival of two Federation battle squadrons, Strike Force Alpha ‘Felgor’s Fury’, Strike Force Bravo ‘Empires Revenge’ and troops of the First Terran ‘Grounder Pounder’ Division led to a declaration of emergency and a state of collective panic in the LGR capital.

Federation forces moved quickly, destroying LGR orbital assets including the state repair yard, LGR orbital factories and comms relays. Federal Navy forces suppressed local defence forces and carried out large scale economic bombardment of economic infrastructure, factories, refining facilities and transport infrastructure. Federation troops and starship marines struck at local defence forces and have seized key government facilities on the surface.

CPA FLEET FIRES ON SEEKER ALLIES

Arriving late to the scene, Seeker and Cerean battle squadrons tasked with defending the colony combined at the M25 limit under the joint command of Cerean Admiral Stellan Granyt and moved to engage Terran Federation fleet elements. Seeker Commonwealth battle squadron 6th Exploration and Rescue engaged the Federation fleet, launching their pacifier fighter squadrons at extended range. Just minutes after the attack began, Cerean ships reportedly held station, then moved to intercept and engage the Seeker vessels alongside whom they had arrived. The Seeker fleet moved to disengage immediately, their fighter squadrons taking up defensive positions around the fleet. GNN understands SKC vessels took light damage from those strikes that landed home, before they broke contact and burned hard for the M25 limit in full retreat.

Following the incident, the Seekers Commonwealth published the following statement detailing the engagement.

LGR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS UNACCOUNTED AMIDST REASON RUINS

GNN was unable to confirm the whereabouts of senior LGR officials at the time of reporting, though unconfirmed rumours suggest the LGR Co-Consul Robospierre 33X has been arrested and detained by Federation forces on Reason. The patchy rumours suggest the Co-Consul was last seen in Place Charles de Gaulle, draped in a flag of the republic and wielding a ceremonial pistol, climbing on the rubble of the Museum of Primitive Behaviours, making a speech to a crowd of panicked citizens, his voice drowned out by Terran bombardment and overhead aircraft.

Initial reports suggest Georges DanTron and President Robo-spiere 33.y, who is currently expecting the birth of his first child of the revolution, were evacuated with the rest of the civilian government. Experts suggest the LGR will be forced to the negotiation table after this catastrophe, with DanTron possibly leading an LGR Government-in-Exile.

A State of Emergency was declared on Reason as Federation ships were first sighted inbound, and a general civilian evacuation of the capital districts was under way well before the first of the peacekeeping vessels arrived in the system. Nevertheless, civilian casualties are estimated to be high, with directed orbital fire on targets in dense population centres. Humanitarian organisations call for immediate assistance.

On Amity Station, Alarian troops remain in control of the central colony complex. Large scale LGR and international humanitarian aid relief efforts proceed apace on Amity Station, supported by orbiting Viśvanivāsaḥ fleet elements including the flagship VSS Priyadarkah commanded by the Moulding Essence, and SILK humanitarian teams.

New dross forum convenes

NEW DROSS FORUM CONVENES

The Dross Sustainability and Conservation Forum held its opening session this cycle, co-chaired by the Vertinia Commonwealth’s Kenz Juba and the Seekers Commonwealth’s Kiranpeace Har. Vertex Colonial Group, which controls the colony under corporate charter, said in a statement that it “welcomes the Forum as a constructive venue for dialogue with all stakeholders” and reaffirmed its commitment to “responsible and sustainable land use while delivering the long-term commercial value on which the colony’s future depends.” Har described the launch as “a genuine first step in a spirit of partnership, in which every voice is heard,” and confirmed the body would operate on a voluntary, advisory basis. VCG separately confirmed that its Megavox domestication and husbandry programme continues on schedule, with VCG’s stock on the NEMEX 500 rising on the news.

Away from the conference halls, the picture is less collegial. The radical Vertinian animal rights movement Anima has been organising local chapters across Dross settlements, and is rumoured to have established encampments in the hills above Dross Alpha. VCG colonial security has confirmed the arrest of several Anima members on suspicion of criminal damage, with further individuals held on charges reported to include unlawful entry to licensed operational land, unlawful assembly, and interference with lawful commerce. Kenz Juba herself was targeted with a Megavox-milk-shake by a protester, after she left a packed press conference to announce the new sustainability forum. A VCG spokesperson said the company “respects the right to peaceful expression” but would “not tolerate unlawful disruption of a chartered colony.”

In a further boost to the local economy, SILK scientists have arrived on Dross. The contingent are setting up a new scientific research operation and have begun field work on Megavox cognition, social complexity and welfare needs.

In a related development, the Vertinia Commonwealth has confirmed that Exarch Nina Silverleaf has been dispatched to Sector 005 to work alongside Chief Aylen Winterglow. The Commonwealth described the appointment as a routine administrative appointment, stating “the Exarch has been appointed by the Archon tol serve alongside Winterglow as Steward of the Living Worlds of Sector 005”.

Pfrn conduct military exercises on rogan’s world

PFRN CONDUCT MILITARY EXERCISES ON ROGAN’S WORLD

The Proxima Federal Republic Navy’s 1st Squadron ‘Vanguard’, operating alongside the PFRN 5th Division, has deployed to Rogan’s World for EXERCISE HUMANITY WILL PREVAIL, described by Proximan officials as the Navy’s principal readiness exercise in the sector this year.

The exercise centred on the standard orbital insertion of ground forces, with dropships conducting repeated combat descents against simulated opposition over several days. Observers noted a heavy tempo of activity in low orbit, with ‘Vanguard’ holding station overhead while the 5th Division rehearsed successive landings against a notional defending force.

Proxima Central Command describes the exercise as routine readiness training, part of the wider drive to raise the efficiency of Republic formations under the Navy’s ongoing re-armament programme. According to a statement issued last week by a Proximan military spokesperson, the final phase of the multi-day exercise concluded with “a series of wargaming exercises testing approaches at shaping the battlespace.”

GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka notes the exercise comes at a time with the Republic in a cold war with the Terran Federation and sharpening domestic debates over the pace of Proximan re-armament.

Reaction on Proxima split along familiar lines. Visiting from Sector 001 as part of a political tour of Sector 005, Rigel Mosley of the National Vanguard Movement welcomed the deployment as overdue evidence of Proximan resolve, while the representatives of the Proximan Unity Front warned against “dressing escalation up as training.”

Seeker auction markets high yield weaponry

SEEKER AUCTION MARKETS HIGH YIELD WEAPONRY

Alarian high yield missiles appear to have found their way onto the open market. Lot 4471 at the Galactic Auction House on Sirx Soter was listed simply as “military surplus, provenance unverified”, but catalogue imagery clearly showed a full salvo complement of Alarian-manufactured heavy ordnance. When questioned on the provenance of the equipment, Auction House Director Archibald Rex replied only that “business is business”.

The Mark XXIV “Crucifier” High Yield Heavy Missile is the standard heavy missile armament aboard Alarian capital ships, and its appearance at open auction has raised eyebrows across the sector’s defence community. The lot was declared sold to an unknown buyer for an undisclosed sum. Experts suggest the weapons may have been salvaged from one of the sector’s various battlefields, though salvage specialists note that recovering intact high yield ordnance from a debris field is difficult, dangerous and rarely accidental.

Responding to GNN’s request for comment, Tribune Peter Pickle, Director of Civil Motivation Operations in Sector 5 said: “the Alarian Imperium is saddened that our weapons are being sold on the black market. But we are not surprised they would be highly sought after given our unmatched expertise in military weapons engineering. But these weapons should not be in the hands of irresponsible actors. The only weapons of Alarian origin we know to be taken from us were the humanitarian aid weapons illegally seized by the LGR from the SS Lucky Strike.”

Osquivel suffers energy cascade failures

OSQUIVEL SUFFERS ENERGY CASCADE FAILURES

Large sections of the Osquivel planetary energy grid have suffered rolling cascade blackouts, with some districts left without power for days. Grid engineers trace the failures to a series of hyperprocessor faults, which triggered system-wide safety shutdowns as loads were shunted between failing nodes.

Initial reports suggest an anomalous surge in processing demand exceeding safe tolerances, though grid authorities have so far been unable to identify its source. “The demand curve doesn’t match anything in the projections,” one utilities engineer told GNN on condition of anonymity. “Something was drawing compute, and drawing it hard.” Restoration work is ongoing, and planetary authorities have appealed for calm as investigators examine the affected hyperprocessor clusters.

Maranax Perenthes, Director of the Pull The Plug campaign group, campaigning for divestment and increased restrictions on artificial intelligence applications on Osquivel, remarked “Our researchers have logged significant anomalous power drains in the energy grid prior to these failures, which we flagged to the Assembly but received no reply. We’ve been warning for years, the hallmarks are clear for anyone to see. The government is undertaking secretive advanced intelligence experiments. We must oppose these developments now, before it’s too late.”

Sng rebuilding effort takes shape on y5

SNG REBUILDING EFFORT TAKES SHAPE ON Y5

Engineers and work crews of the Solas na Gealaí Morrigan Tactical Division have been working alongside colonists of the Benzhar Hegemony on the embattled world of Y5, repairing the damage left in the wake of the Andor emergency. Deployed as a supplementary labour force, the division’s engineers have completed the restoration of the first breached habitation dome, returning life support to settlements left dangerously exposed during the recent unrest. Hegemony representatives, previously wary of outside assistance, have spoken warmly of the SNG’s contribution, with one describing the arrival of Solas na Gealaí labour and materials as a turning point for a colony that had feared it would be left to fend for itself.

Alongside the repair works, SNG construction teams have begun raising a network of Bionid Emergency Defence Shelters, or BEDS, close to the colony’s larger population domes. The shelters draw on the same hardened protective measures the SNG developed to shield its own fleets, and are intended to buy civilians vital time to respond should any trace of Bionid infestation reach the Y5 system. For a population still shaken by the fate of neighbouring Andor, the sight of the first shelters rising near the domes has been received as a rare piece of reassurance.

GNN understands that SNG defence laboratories are also pressing ahead with the development and productisation of the Thermal Lance TLS-4 “HALO” system, or Hive Ablation Lance Ordnance, the latest iteration of the thermal lance technology credited with disrupting the Andor hive during recent coalition operations. Refined through repeated field testing, the system is now being downscaled and refitted to scout vessels, a move analysts suggest points to a shift from emergency countermeasure to standing capability across the SNG’s forward patrols.

Cpa establishes trade federation on hades iv

CPA ESTABLISHES TRADE FEDERATION ON HADES IV

The Cerean Planetary Alliance has formally established the Livingstone Mining & Trade Federation, a new multilateral trade body headquartered at Hades IV. CPA officials state the Federation is constituted under the authority of the Treaty of Livingstone of 2398, which the Alliance maintains remains legally valid and of which it describes the Federation as the institutional expression.

Ambla Brunt, Directorial of the CPA’s Institute of Economic Affairs, has been appointed Federation Secretary-General with immediate effect and has already been deployed to Hades IV to stand up the Secretariat.

Under the terms of the new institution, member worlds are offered security guarantees, access to CPA mining expertise and trade infrastructure, entry to a network of participating trading worlds, emergency assistance from a Federation fund, neutral CPA arbitration services, and a seat on the Federation Council convening quarterly at Hades IV.

CPA spokespersons were emphatic on one key point. The LTF, they say, is an administrative and facilitative institution and not a direct trade partner or sovereign entity. Hades IV is presented as the hub through which member worlds trade with one another, with the Alliance supplying the infrastructure, the protection and the secretariat, while the registered routes themselves remain the property of the members.

Admiral Isolda Oremaster of the Cerean Planetary Alliance, standing alongside the new Secretary-General, hailed the new effort in a special event on New Devon, saying:

“The Treaty of Livingstone has always recognised that those who do the hard work of extracting the resources that built human civilisation deserve security and fair reward. Independent worlds have gone long enough without the infrastructure and protection that larger polities take for granted. That changes now.

“The Livingstone Mining & Trade Federation is open for business. If you mine it, refine it, or ship it, there is a place for you at the table on Hades IV. You keep your sovereignty. You keep your independence. You just finally have someone watching your back.

“Our door is open. Come prosper with us.” No independent world has yet confirmed accession. Stay tuned for more.

Ur-lucent colony founded by seekers

DEEP RED ESCALATE ON MOLLARI

Fighting on Mollari has widened significantly this cycle, with the Deep Red insurgency mounting a series of coordinated ambushes against Mollari Republic patrol columns and supply convoys in the equatorial rainforest belt. GNN sources on the ground report at least four separate engagements over a ten day period, a marked escalation from the isolated barracks attack that announced the group’s arrival on the planet.

More troubling for the Republic than the ambushes themselves is who is now joining them in the jungle. Local sources confirm that small numbers of Mollari citizens, most of them contract workers from the DeepCore extraction operations in the equatorial foothills, have abandoned their postings and made their way into insurgent-held terrain. Conditions at the DeepCore pits have been the subject of intermittent complaint for years, with workers describing sixteen hour rotations, company-held debt against transit and equipment, and a rate of industrial injury that local medical cooperatives have repeatedly flagged. One former shift supervisor, speaking to GNN on condition of anonymity from a settlement outside the cordon, said simply that the mountains could not possibly be worse.

DeepCore has lodged a formal protest with the Mollari government demanding the protection of company assets, personnel and transit corridors. The firm is a mining subsidiary of Atlas Stellar Extraction, the Terran megacorporation - a statement issued through its sector office noted that Atlas “continues to review the security environment of all its holdings in the region”.

Deep Red leader Katya Posada released a broadcast to coincide with the attacks, in which she claimed the group had “not brought revolution to Mollari, but has found it living in the pits, just waiting for someone to light the spark”. Authorities on Trotsky have again denied involvement, though Daily Worker reporter Min Giap notes a steady stream of young volunteers now leaving Trotsky by civilian transport with no declared return booking. The Mollari Republic has responded with strict travel checks, biometric screening at orbital arrival, and full cargo inspection on all inbound Trotsky-registered hulls, measures that have already caused significant delays to legitimate freight.

GNN defence correspondent Lira Vassenka observes that the pattern of activity has changed character entirely. “This is no longer terrorism, it is a full insurgency,” she said. “Deep Red are not raiding and withdrawing offworld. They are staying, they are recruiting locally, and they are almost certainly establishing base areas among the rainforest settlements. That is a textbook sequence, and once the population starts getting behind you, counter-insurgency becomes a very different and much longer term problem.”

The Mollari government issued only a brief statement, declining to answer questions. “This is a strictly internal matter concerning the sovereign territory of the Mollari Republic, and it will be handled, in due course and with appropriate firmness, by the security forces of the Mollari Republic. We require no assistance, we have requested no assistance, and we would thank our neighbours to remember that.”

Basha Colony was once more unavailable for comment, the southern continent farming colonies being midway through harvest fortnight celebrations. Reginald Bivvy, Lord Mayor of Basha Colony, did offer a short remark to GNN between engagements, calling upon “both sides in this unhappy business to lay down their tools, break bread together and join us at table, where these disagreements will surely look much less important”.

Ur-lucent colony founded by seekers

UR-LUCENT COLONY FOUNDED BY SEEKERS

The Seekers Commonwealth has confirmed the founding of a new colony on the M-Class world formerly designated X17, now renamed Ur-Lucent, the latest settlement raised under its Direct Investment Colonial Kickstart programme. Commonwealth construction drones first touched down almost two years ago, raising habitats, infrastructure and civic works to house tens of thousands of incoming Seeker colonists.

The build is being financed directly from the Commonwealth treasury rather than left to organic growth. The Tempting Word Directorate framed the effort in familiar terms, declaring that what is left behind on Ur-Lucent will matter more than what is taken from it. True to form, the Commonwealth has opened a full record of every existing inhabitant, new colonist, contractor and drone operator to set foot on the world, the first entries in what will become Ur-Lucent’s permanent settlement census.

Tribune julia tuscano in shock resignation

TRIBUNE JULIA TUSCANO IN SHOCK RESIGNATION

Tribune Julia Toscano, Director of the Imperial Biodemography Institute (IBI), pictured above with Lord Markov, brother of the Empress, at the recent Empire Ball on Alioth, will be departing Sector 005 for an extended period of leave, the Imperial Press Service reports.

Resigning her position at the Institute, Toscano is expected to undertake a tour of human settled space in an effort to better understand human relationships, the relative biological qualities and differences in populations and their effect on political dynamics.

Vertinian sociologist Andreas Mekong, a long outspoken critic of the IBI and Toscano’s work, claims the Alarian institute is “cover for a long running state backed eugenics research programme”. The IBI have long refuted such claims as anti-Alarian scaremongering, stating their work aims to “enrich and enhance the human condition”.

Former celebrity holobroadcaster and CEO of the Alaria First Policy Institute, Helo Virmen, is reportedly the Court favourite in line for taking up the prestigious role at the IBI on Gloriana.

Amity system suffers scavenger attack

AMITY SYSTEM SUFFERS SCAVENGER ATTACK

Scavenger groups descended on the Amity Station system last month, picking over the hulks of damaged warships and vessels in orbit of Amity Station before being driven off by responding elements of the VC White Star Fleet currently operating in the system. No casualties have been reported, though salvage assessors say several wrecks were stripped of drive components, weapons mounts and sensor arrays before the scavengers withdrew.

The identity of the scavenging groups remains unknown. Experts say the vessels observed do not match any known salvage outfit operating within Sector 005, and may be of extra-sector origin. VC patrol elements remain on station under the command of Rear Admiral Taklung Shenmao, with shipping and humanitarian efforts in the Amity approaches has been advised to exercise caution. The VC Moulding Essence directed VC escort ships to facilitate efficient traffic operations and undertake anti-piracy escort duties, given the loss of the local defence forces to Alarian forces in recent months.

Proximan pm condemns orbital atrocity

PROXIMAN PM CONDEMNS ORBITAL ATROCITY

Proxima Federal Republic Prime Minister Svetlana Johnsdottir has condemned the Alarian Imperium’s destruction of Amity Station in the strongest terms, in an address that reached Sector 005 comms relays only this cycle after the long delay from the homeworlds of Sector 001.

Speaking in the Hall of the Republic, Johnsdottir said: “The deliberate demolition of a populated arcology, and the deaths of thousands of civilians who had done nothing but live a life among its corridors, market halls and airlocks, is an atrocity that shames us all,” the Prime Minister said. “The Republic will not look away. Not now, not ever.”

Johnsdottir announced an immediate humanitarian relief and restructuring package for the colony, pledging Proximan resources to the survivors and to the long work of rebuilding what was lost.

GNN’s Sector 005 political editor Bruno Gramaldo remarked, “this is a firm response to a major catastrophe, and I do not doubt she means it. But Johnsdottir is also under pressure from her own political coalition on Proxima and the wider PACT coalition, to be seen as a friend and a builder, not just as Terra’s cold war rival with a fleet at her back, as she has so often portrayed herself, particularly during last year’s elections. A relief package lets her be the welcome ally rather than the warmonger, and she knows exactly how this will come across.”

The Prime Minister closed with a call for peace across Sector 005 and an immediate cessation of hostilities, and voiced her confidence in the Republic’s governing authority in the sector. “I have full faith in Commissioner Shigetaki, Fleet Admiral E.G. Måns, and in Sector Governor J. Oskarsson. They carry Proxima’s hope for a just and lasting peace.”

Mystiq light up crashdump in explosive debut

MYSTIQ LIGHT UP CRASHDUMP IN EXPLOSIVE DEBUT

There is a new name on every feed in the sector, and almost nobody has met them. MYSTIQ, a synth-pop act out of SILK and the first homegrown Sector 005 group to break this big in years, arrived last cycle with one of the boldest debuts in living memory, seizing the holo-advertising and public address systems across the nightclub district of downtown Crashdump and turning the whole inner city into one vast open-air dancefloor for the surprise drop of their first album.

Witnesses describe thousands of strangers dancing in the streets until dawn, the group’s tracks pouring from every speaker while their visuals washed over every hoarding. City authorities, caught completely off guard, have so far chosen to take the stunt in good humour. Part of the appeal is what they hold back, with MYSTIQ performing only as holograms, giving no interviews, and refusing to even confirm how many members they even have, a secrecy their band management calls “central to who they are”.

Riding the response, the group have announced a sector tour over the coming year, with dates promised across SILK, the SNG, the Seekers Commonwealth, the Vertinia Commonwealth, AFCO and the Viśvanivāsaḥ Confederacy. Tickets are already said to be near impossible to find leading to a surge in black market holosales, GNN’s Rae Solano reports.

In the wake of the NIMVY crisis the SILK government has worked to support local business and rebuild confidence in the local economy, supporting and subsidising cultural life across Crashdump and Galaga-D from museums to concerts. Hoi-Men Mei of the Crashdump cultural board hailed the recent investments, saying “we’re directing funds for a full refurb of the Crashdump holo arena - Crashdump is already the cultural centre of the Sector, but we’re aiming higher - with headliners like MYSTIQ and this new level of support, we truly think anything is possible.

Ashborn faces questions over amity

ASHBORN FACES QUESTIONS OVER AMITY

The wave of coverage now surrounding First Child Lucien Ashborn is not, in itself, new. Reports questioning the conduct of the Imperium’s governor in Sector 005 have surfaced and receded for cycles, each return a little more pointed than the last. What has changed, according to observers across the sector, is the pace at which they are now arriving, and the difficulty the Imperium is having in answering them.

At the centre is the question of command. Ashborn presided over a military campaign that left the Hammer of Alaria Battle Squadron crippled and the skies above Amity Station without Imperial cover. Whilst the eponymous Ashborn Legion remains stranded and isolated, its position described by one widely circulated holonet post originating from within the AI as a place where “if they are sundered, then so shall his name be.”

His critics have widened the charge. Ashborn holds a commanding position in the sector, an impressive feat, they argue, yet has left its more exposed worlds to meet the Bionid threat with little assistance, a failure they say cannot be separated from his character. Running beneath both is the matter of Ashborn’s finances, and a persistent claim, which GNN is still working to verify, that the First Child himself quietly funded the White Hand cells he later moved against, securing the crackdown and the emergency powers that followed.

Analysts have been struck less by any single allegation than by their incoherence. “The claims just don’t add up,” said GNN’s defence correspondent, Lira Vassenka. “One account has him bought by Terran money, another run by Cerean handlers, a third bound to White Hand remnants, a fourth to something beneath Skaro. The effect, whether by design or not, is that every faction is left to suspect he belongs to some other faction.” Several analysts have gone further, noting that the material, posts and heasay reads as native and organic to the Imperium’s own worlds, and suggesting the reports may be originating not with foreign networks but with senior figures within the governor’s own inner circle.

The Imperium has rejected the coverage and growing commentary without qualification. A statement from the office of the First Child described the reporting as “the work of enemies of the Empress”, while S5 Imperial Security warned that “the repetition of foreign lies against a Child of Alaria is not comment but treason, and shall be answered as treason.” Holonet restrictions within AI territory are now in force in response.

In other news, the Visvanivasah Confederacy have issued a warrant for the arrest of First Child Lucien Ashborn, who is now deemed a criminal, due to his “personal involvement in brutality and murder of VC civilians”.

New berlin postpones referendum amidst ongoing conflict

NEW BERLIN POSTPONES REFERENDUM AMIDST ONGOING CONFLICT

Tristan Eckhart Colonial Governor of New Berlin released the following statement:

“In light of the ongoing war and the grave instability now afflicting our sector, the Colonial Administration has determined that the referendum on New Berlin’s alignment cannot proceed at this time. The people of New Berlin will decide their future freely, or not at all, and no free choice can be made under the shadow of warships. The vote is suspended until peace returns to Sector 005.”

The decision was met with protests from some quarters at the abrupt stalling of the democratic process, whilst others breathed a sigh of relief after months of hard campaigning lobbying the Eckhart administration to pause accession talks with the various major powers. New Berliners appear aggravated at the colonial attitudes among the greater powers, with local holocasters lambasting LGR claims to New Berlin sovereignty. The decision appears to have been taken in response to growing unease on the colony with their proximity to the escalating interstellar conflict. Stay tuned for more on this story as it develops.

This has been GNN, live from Sector 005. Bringing you news from across the Verse, as it happens.
